express bowling
We will be playing the first 2 tests in Chennai. The pitch is usually low and slow there. So, the pacers will need to attack the stumps with skiddy indippers at 140 k+. Shami and Umesh are masters of this delivery. But they are not there. Bumrah is very good at doing this too. But the other 3 pacers in the squad are not ideally suited to bowling this delivery over and over again. It would have been nice if we had another such young pacer ready ... but we don't have one ready. Who would be your 2nd fast bowler, after Bumrah, for the 1st test ? My pick is Siraj as he is the skiddiest of the 3 other pacers and can attack the stumps too. Edited January 22, 2021 by express bowling Forever Indian and Mosher 1 1 Link to comment

Swings the new ball well , Bowls well vs lefties , Can hold 1 end up and he is a proven work horse . Try him in First match . After 2 nd test we should have shami Jaddu back . Link to comment

He is also a thinking bowler who is able to crank up to high 130ks when required. So I think if he is bowled in short bursts he can bowl at good pace attacking the stumps. Yes ... in the 4th test Siraj attacked the stumps for a couple of overs at 138 k to 142 k. Looked decent then. Mosher and Forever Indian 2 Link to comment

He was quite impressive and quick in the 2nd practice match and read that he was very good and hostile in the nets too. Prasidh should have been chosen as a net bowler too. Not a single 140 k+ pacer chosen as a net bowler, given that Avesh has lost pace in the 4 day format. Any link you read about nets? Link to comment

express bowling
Bump. It was sad to see aging and unfit pacers bowling pies for India against Pakistan. ( except Bumrah who is young and quick ) Exactly 2 years have gone by since this thread started. But we have failed to develop a single new 140 k+ pacer for white ball cricket. Even in test matches, only Siraj has come through. This is epic lack of foresight and planning from the selectors. express bowling
It is high time we tried Siraj, Prasidh and Umran in white ball cricket. ( Umran only in bilateral T20Is ). And Prasidh in test matches. The biggest challenge is leaving out trundlers in white ball cricket ( unless we are choosing a bowling allrounder at 8 like Shardul ) Edited October 26, 2021 by express bowling Mosher 1 Link to comment

Sadly there was zero support for Siraj & no hype around how well he bowled in 2 back to back IPL seasons. Fans praised Umran Malik & selectors were forced to bring in him as a Net bowler. Public pressure will always be a thing in Indian cricket. I was honestly sad to see how much respect Trundlers like Bhuvi got among fans that he should be in WT20 squad over promising quicks. Even Prasidh was discarded who played vs Eng on pattas & even gave a match winning performance on debut. Fans ex players also wanted Deepak Chahar in there. No one talked about Siraj.. No one. Earlier in Sri lanka tour we picked Sakariya over Tygi who wasn't even in the squad.. Believe it or not. As long as we keep respecting Trundlers Nothing is going to change. This goes out to little IPl fans as well. express bowling and Hell Raiser 1 1 Link to comment
Suhaan
Trundler love is so strong that you saw a Sakaria play for India I wonder why didn't they try Gurbani in tests when he was wrecking havoc in 17,18 season He had all the ingredients ,trundler being the prime skill,he should have smashed opened the gates, strange Prasidh gets mocked in IPL while below average SRH trundler knu kle kumar is hailed as swing sultan I had no problem with Bhuvi till the time he got swing but once he failed as a swing bowler he had not much behind to warrant selection, can't surprise batsmen with pace, bouncers anything when there is no assistance from the wicket, you need to look beyond then, why keep on repeating the same cycle again and again LOI attack has been pedestrian, very annoying express bowling and Mosher 2 Link to comment

And even in T20s there may not be one. What is the point of investing in medium pacers then !! We play 60% of our cricket on slow surfaces where the ball does not swing conventionally ... we are mostly either medium height or short compared to pacers around the world ... so bowlers bowling high speeds become even more important. But our selectors never learn. Most of our new white ball specialists being chosen are super trundlers who find it difficult to cross 135 k. They will never have a good career but will stop the development of a good fast bowler by blocking important spots. Mosher 1 Link to comment

express bowling
After he became the BCCI President. I had expected Ganguly to be more proactive about transforming young 140 k+ pacers into finished products and giving them enough chances in low key matches. And have a game plan for their development in the pre-international level with some efficient international cricketer in charge of this. Did not happen. Ganguly's health issues and Covid induced interruptions could have been major factors impeding this process though. But we are losing a lot of young promising quicks who are either regressing as bowlers or losing pace or are perennially injured. This includes Saini, Mavi, Tyagi and Nagarkoti. What can be done to improve this situation ?? @Mosher, @Suhaan, @rkt.india, @Lone Wolf, @Mesky99, @sarchasm, @nsareen, @MultiB48 Edited October 26, 2021 by express bowling Mosher 1 Link to comment

Their pace attack was outbowling us. Even though they made a blunder that Kumara was sitting out on bench to give fairwell to Udana. Otherwise we may not have seen Deepak chahar's heroics. T20 series was all Hasranga & Chameera & Krunal Pandya. And Trundler Army of Bhuvi Sakariya & Deepak Chahar's. express bowling 1 Link to comment

There is vyshak Vijay Kumar from Karnataka who looks quite skiddy, Kuldeep Sen from mp looks good. Link to comment
