This lad 20 year old Vishal Thakur also played UP u19 previously is seriously fast and a left armer to boot. He is faster than Yash Dayal as well. Look at that stump jumping over the net in this video.

5'8 is rather short for a fast bowler. wish it could have been at least 2 inches taller. a pity we can't find a bowler who can operate in 135-140 (need not exceed 140) but have steep bounce and height (ideally 6'5 and above).

Shami is 5'8. Malinga agarkar was 5'8 too.

and marshall was short too. but these papers are exceptions, some are exceptional. I would not, for instance, rate Sir Aggy a good bowler in tests, although he was good in ODIs.

If one is skiddy, left armer, can bowl inswing at 140+ even if short that's a great combination. He needs to play for UP first.

Not even 140. 135-140 is more than enough. Like more than enough if you have good bounce/yorker and a bit of movement. 

 

The reason why height may help being tall is due to natural bounce. Shorter guys will have to try a little harder to generate the same bounce. But shorter ones will be more handy if they have the skiddy ability by bowling a touch fuller. 

 

Taller bowlers don't have to put as much stress on body to generate bounce. Shorter guys will have to put more stress which can cause injuries. That's the real advantage to taller guys. 

 

In Asian conditions, Shorter people have the advantage due to fuller length balls. Shorter bowlers are more adept at bowling fuller lengths. Full lengths conversely take a lot out of taller bowlers. Need both kinds. End of story.

And the lad is just 19-20. Still has the potential to get quicker. I am certain under proper speed guns in IPL, he will clock 145 like Umran Malik did. There is one guy Hemant Chaudhary from Rajasthan, left armer who is 26 but is hitting 146kph under Stalker pro speed gun in the nets. He and Ravi Sharma both have been picked by RCB as net bowlers for this IPL.

Speed guns in domestic are useless. He was bowling as quick as thmpi who himself bowls mid 135-142 range. Thampi was bowling quick too. Eden bounced out Gujrati opener

Yes. Saw one over of Eden and Thampi and he was 127-130 on these speed guns. Thampi who is usually in the mid 130's was clocking the same as Eden.
