Time to delete this thread as an old slower ball specialist gets preference over a young express pacer in bowling friendly NZ conditions. The guy who couldn't get a game in WC because conditions didn't suit him. Now suddenly in NZ, conditions started to suit him.

Right. What's the point when so much fast bowling talent is there in India but they prefer playing tried and tested useless trundlers in bilaterals when they should be experimenting with youngsters and prepare for the next wc. Losing interest in watching these matches.

If a so called pacer could not be trusted in even a single game in the biggest tournament. (   They had to persist with Ashwin despite indifferent performances )  then what is the utility of having him in the squad even.

i feel they are saving Umran for 50 overs, they would have told him & samson, guys prepare for 50 overs.. T20, we would let the losers(Bhuvi ) play one last time..

Don't see him playing anything tbh...  1st ODI is a non starter as he probably would have just landed.  You can't expect planning vision from BCCI & TM. 

Umran may get to play a odd game.  It could be double edge sword for him in Eden park Auckland Where we have 50m boundaries.  Let's see...  Hardik was a big disappointment today. 

Siraj isn't in ODI squad surprisingly... 

Thakur Chahar & we may see Umran I guess.

I would wish both of them together, last time we handed debut to 2 pacers in one series was all the back in 2013...when Bhuvneshwar & Shami both debuted together against Pak in ODI's (though Bhuvneshwar played T20I's just before).
