Bangladesh are abysmal

There seems to be a one step forward 10 steps back performance from them.

Just painful to see their progress or lack of it in 20 years

The thing about BD, they have this phase when they are good in certain formats (like ODIs) but are abysmal in the other two formats. Its almost like they sacrifice the other two formats for focusing on one format.

You look at BD the country, and economically its doing fine. Has a defined domestic structure. BPL is a decent competition with money to attract a good level of international talent. So what gives?

They show promise only to deceive. In LOIs It looks to be a mental block where the team don't believe they can win. That's why they throw away winning positions.

In Tests they dont even compete.

Mushi is like half their batting strength, and then they are also missing Shakib. For a weak team like BD missing these 2 is a huge blow cos their reserves suck. Think of mid-90s India without Sachin and Kumble, even worse in BD's case. They should never have agreed to tour Bakiland in the first place, there is also the psychological pressure of safety and boredom. Let these 2 teams play a full series in BD 10 months from now, Toygers will force green ghetto to shut down.

On the positive side another royal beatdown to the next 'Shane Warne'. Yes Sir should start the spin/test equivalent of Dinda academy.

Lack of investment, focus and prioritization of FC cricket.  It is impossible for a team to build a competent test unit, or even a consistent ODI unit, without having a proper domestic cricket setup with proper competition, funding, and facilities.  Toyger cricket board focuses more on u19 team's preparation, than they do on their own FC cricket.  The day they fix that, they will take the steps that Sri Lanka took in the 1990s.

Wont blame them in this instance ,its difficult to concentrate and play your natural game in such a scary atmosphere (Pakistan I mean).

Things would have been different in UAE

UAE would have really suited the toygers - the low bounce and grippy tracks would feel just like home.  PCB made a big stink in insulting the toygers about not hosting them in UAE due to "no profit", but conditions surely were a factor too.

Nothing new. They are the worst Test team in the history of cricket after all.  Have the worst record for a Test team after 100 matches.  Even a newbie Afghanistan came into their home and shamed them by winning the Test match in their own den. Haven't won CT, WC, or even Asia Cup.  Their cupboard is empty.  No match for the likes of SL or Pak, who both have won WC,CT, and Asia Cups and were decent at Test Cricket in their history, let alone India.   Even in the recent WC, they were overhyped and in the end, ended up at like #8 or something.  Dismal record overall

Why are you surprised? Maybe decent in ODI but one of the worst team to play test cricket in the history of this game. Give AFG 10 years, they will leap beyond them alongside couple other bottom feeder teams.

They won't be good enough in test cricket for a while. Their batting is fine, but need genuine wicket taking bowlers to compete. Most of their spinners are containing ones and the pacers mostly rely on variations. Same for the u19 bowlers, all looked like bowling tight spells to squeeze the batting rather than bowl out the opposition.
