Kuptaan Wrogn f**ked him over in his very first series as Captain.  Not saying that this guy was int'l quality, but he did not get a fair shot, when he was in his prime.  Even a nobody like Faiz Fazal got better opportunity than him.  

 

The J&K team has made the Ranji knockouts this year, and that by itself is an impressive achievement given the hurdles they have overcome.

If I can use that tag to make a difference, that will make me happier. Bishan Bedi often said 'control the controllables'. It's really as simple as that.

He was competing against ashwin then and sundar later on

 

think he is neither a great batsman nor an exceptional bowler . With odi rules changed he is not an asset in odi . Has not done great in t20.

for tests he has to compete with ashwin and Jayant yadav .

 

a good cricketer and would have played for most countries but competition for his slot is immense

Let him first learn our national anthem and ensure no disrespect by chewing gum when it is being played. Have basic decency to honour the flag you represent. After that we can talk about these trivial matters, don't care if he is a Sobers. Different rules in other countries maybe but in India we have some expectations from our sportspeople.

Similar thing happened during Day 3 of Adelaide test in 2008 when national anthem was played as it was Republic Day. Some players were not standing in attention. I remember Ganguly being targeted by the media.

Should be a punishable offence. If you can't maintain decorum for 52 seconds you are unworthy to represent the Tiranga.

Our Kaptaan has no moral authority on this issue after the shameless yakking-it-up with Pak players after CT17 final humiliation.  Showing overt respect for national symbols is just the beginning.  Actually being committed to making your national team a winner or at least showing some respect after the defeat is important.  And on that day, VK failed.

That's different. When anthem is played you stand in attention and sing along, non-negotiable. 52 seconds on match days isn't going to kill our players.

You do both.  VK has no business benching someone because they didn't respect national symbols.  By that logic, he should himself have been benched for crapping the final - against PAKISTAN - and laughing after it.

I hate what VK did there. He is an idiot, also a shameless opportunist, desperate for attention from Pak fans and that B-wood influence.

 

What Rasool did was defiance. I knew a few Kahmiris in college, none of them knew national anthem because it isn't taught or in use in the valley. When you represent India, attitude must change.

 

Don't think VK dropped him for that anthem issue, just that as an Indian team fan I have certain expectations. No sympathy that he is out of reckoning.

Don't disagree - but his omission in that series was especially glaring - even when the series was won - and it was meant to be a glorified A tour to begin with.  Virat was even asked publicly about it, and he said something to the effect that - "If first choice players are fit and available, I have no right to bench them"  Total goddam BS.

Qualifications for the Ranji knockouts is unfair.  While top 5 teams from the Elite Level make it, 3 from the Plate group also make the despite being a rung or two below the Elite Groups.  Other issue is it disregards that the Elite Level has two separate groups but just looks at the top 5 across the two groups. It needs an overhaul.   J&K was in the Plate group (level below Elite Level)

 

As for Rasool, he would've been competing for the allrounder spot which had tough competition. Many others missed the cut.
