maniac
Let me start with AR Rehman Everyone knows Taal was a block buster album but this song feat sanskaari bauji often gets ignored. If you have the right music system, the ghatam (a South Indian percussion instrument) sounds amazing I6MTW and sandeep 1

zen
RD Burman has many gems (in fact most of his compositions are of good to great status). I am not sure where the below stands, but it is one of my favorites: Edited October 1, 2020 by zen maniac and coffee_rules

I6MTW
One of the most underrated songs of AR Rahman. One of the first songs in Tamil to be purely a cappella based(no instruments as well). A real gem. Mariyam and maniac
coffee_rules
My Fav song from Taal is: It has a Bombay Tu Hi Re feel. Jimmy Cliff
coffee_rules
Another ARR gem from Unnikrishnan got him his National Award, but hardly a popular song. Everybody knows the 12 different version of Muqqala Muqabla It is based on a very rare Karnatic music raga called Kedaram. Tryly great singing from Unni and great composition from ARR I6MTW
coffee_rules
Talking about RDB, he did some of his best in the 80s, that is rarely heard. zen
maniac
^ I like his voice, my another favorite from Sapne. Hariharan sang the Hindi version but I believe Unnikrishnan sang the Telugu https://youtu.be/DQDsWD-2uVI

I6MTW
Very underrated song. KK nostalgia. He doesn't seem to have sung any tamil songs in the last 15-20 years. A very underrated singer.
zen
While Mehabooba is known for the "Mere Naina Sawan" songs (probably among my top favorites), the film has some other good songs as well:
coffee_rules
RDB’s better composition than much hyped , 1942 A Love story, , after his death... SPB classic. Great movie in original Malayalam from Mohanlal, remade a Hindi by Priyadarshan with Jackie Shroff. Amrish Puri acted well.

After a decade of underwhelming music, RDBs swan song reminded us why he was one of the greatest indian composers. It's not just Ek lakdi ko dekha(that is hyped), it's rooth na jaana, Kuch na Kaho, and so many others. It's quite underrated Mariyam
