Looks like many haven't read OP or misunderstood. It isn't only about the team's interests, it is also about helping Pandya become a more well-rounded batsman in this period when he isn't burdened with bowling responsibility. Once he starts bowling he can move down the order. Pace bowling ARs are like uncut diamonds, if polished the value that they provide can't be matched by specialists.

Nobody stopped Mayank Aggrawal /Rahul/Iyer to score 100s today. That is how you build your resume.

 

Kohli was not given number 3 spot, he got there by scoring runs. Rohit after becoming an opener has not looked back. Stop mixing things .They are scoring runs because they are very good. They need support in knockout matches.

Agarwal has just started playing ODI's. But Rahul or Iyer who have played relatively lot more ODI's were expected to step up. 

 

Dhawan, Kohli and Sharma are in 30's. By now atleast one two players must be putting pressure big hundreds on the three seniors. Surely the conditions and situation were there to score a biggie. None of them grabbed the opportunity.

That's why I said he is handy bat. Let him bat at 6 for some series and develop his batting. No rush to move him from 7 to 4 in just one or two matches. Let some series happen, observe how he does at 6 and then take a call.

Pandya has the ability to bat for ample time and by the time he gets out he can break opposition with his bat alone he showed today,being a floater from no.5 to 4 even 3

We don't have guys who can up the tempo after a good start so Pandya up the order is not bad at all

So how is it their fault if others are not stepping up .It is ridiculous to blame them for India's lack of cups. Yes they have failed in three crunch matches , Dhawan was injured in 2019. But have we seen any batting talent like Kohli or Rohit in India in last decade.

 

If they finish matches people are blaming see they don't give others a chance.

Exactly this is what no one understands, u cant avg high if u bat at 7, i think it was only dhoni or may be bevan but they played the waiting game a lot to

actually for short term it wud be fun coz spinners will bowl in middle whom he can take to cleaners in just few overs resulting in a complete momentum change, also this will force captain to bring back main pacers finishing their overs soon

What I liked in SDP’s batting is the adjustments he made in ODIs. In T20s, with relatively smaller boundaries and the need for higher strike rate, he focused on hitting a lot more 6s (a relatively low risk approach as the boundaries are shorter). In ODIs, he played more often along the ground, seeking to find the gaps, and selecting balls to hit for 6s.
 

This is a great exhibition of understanding the nuances of batting in different formats (many of our batsmen play like ODIs in T20s too)
