Sanjay Manjrekar should be hired as motivator for Team India

That knock from Jadeja in WC 2019 semi final is probably a couple of levels beyond his actual batting calibre and it needed Sanjay Manjarekar to do ungli to pull it off.

We all know what happened in his n Jaddu Saga

and hardik scored today

Moral- So whenever manju does ungli to someone he scores

Hardik has a SR of 116 in ODIs

Pandey has a SR of 92 in ODIs

And Manju thinks it's not greatly different.

Why is this guy allowed to do commentary in LOIs ??  He lacks basic understanding of the shorter version of the game.

Gadha hai saala....as an ex player he shud have a comman not top compare avg of batsman who bats at 4-5 to someone who bats at 6-7 and plays high risk game

What Manjrekar said about Jadeja in 2019 Indian fans have been saying the same thing about Jadeja since 2009. Suddenly since Manju said it people are rubbing one decent knock in 11 years that too which failed to get the job done in Manjrekar’s face.

I don’t agree with him on Pandya though. I am not unreasonable or irrational I think Pandya has a slot in this line up. My problem is 2 things one Pandya has got a lot of backing over guys toiling hard in domestics because he has some qualities that no one else has but till now no returns on investment in sight and he is not been given enough responsibilities .

Pandya averages 32 with a SR of 116 in ODIs.

I think that is very good for someone who usually bats at No 7.

Add to this his big hitting abilities at the death against pacers too.

Apart from Samad, we don't have any other batsman in domestic cricket who is of a similar mould.

manju called him bits n pieces which jaddu is not- ppl dont know the meaning of bits n pieces

  • Binny was bits n pieces coz he was neither a hitter or 10 over bowler or solid batsman
  • Jaddu is a 10 over bowler every day, wkts have dried up but thats the case with finger spinners around the world even Lyon has struggled in LOI that doesnt make him bits n pie
  • pollard, pandya, maxwelll they all are specialist power hitter which again is a specialist job as show by both maxi n pandya today

ppl use this term so casually

No returns ???

  • won u a test overseas
  • avg 60 against austalia and thats 360 runs in 6 games means 60 every game
  • Has a 100 in SL, 90 in Sa
  • Won u decider in england
  • made runs in CT final
  • Made many of our 300 totals in 350
  • Won MOM for his bowling on debut that to against NZ who is a good side against pace

If i start breaking down matches it ll show way more perfomances then many

Jadeja is bits and pieces in LOIs not tests.

your 4 main bowlers even in LOIs should be strike bowlers and Jadeja isn’t one.

For example I would call Ashwin a pure bowler in LOIs but in tests he is a genuine bowling allrounder.

in LOI he completes his quota every day so no he is not bits n pieces he is a bowler who can bat a bit like thakur whom u wud consider bowler

atleast his eco is in check unlike thakur

No really , teams can use 1 bowler as defensive to ...no written rule

Fingers spinners are struggling now to take wkts all over , when rules were in favour he won u games with ball and Whole CT

Rahane n rayudu cant score fast n cant attack doenst mean they cant be called batsman in LOi

ashwin is no doubt a better bowler but jadeja n ashwin both suffered from rule changes then skill, had they played in 90s or even 2000s they wud have been wkt taking as well but LOI isnt about wrist spinner

The point i guess is, Jaddu can't win u matches on his own either with bat or ball. His bowling has gone down the gutter. He was a fine containing bowler when he started of but not anymore. If he plays hr should either at bat 5 or at 8.

Not really. Jadeja came into the side as an allrounder and in fact his batting was considered his strong suit. Remember his legendary 3 300’s in domestics. That was always the talking point and his bowling was considered a bonus. Dhoni tried to promote him in the top order initially too which was a disaster. In those days we had guys like Yuvraj,Yusuf Pathan and Sehwag as well who could chip in with overs. Jadeja used to be a Yuvraj type bowler on a good day give you 10 overs and bowl 5-6 overs on some days.

Then the turnaround happened with his bowling. Even in tests he jumped ahead of other domestic spinners because he could bat. We were playing 3 spinners at home and it was a bonus that your 3rd spinner was an allrounder. Now trust me in hindsight things look great but no one saw Jadeja having a mid 20 average with 200+ wickets type test career. We just stumbled on it as a happy accident.  All of a sudden he was a bowler who was atrocious with the bat but slowly started improving batting in tests in the last year or 2.

However in LOI’s he is still mediocre with the bat or ball and trust me if Hardik can bowl he will make up for some Jadeja’s overs and some overs from the weak links in the line up like say a Saini or Thakur is they play as 3rd seamer.

You are only going by what you remember of Jadeja’s accomplishments in test cricket. He is a mediocre limited overs cricketer. Bits and pieces at best and 100% with Manju on  this

yes he came in as all rounder but if he can bowl 10 overs every day he isnt bits n pieces anymore

Yuvi was less of a bowler

he is no doubt mediocre but definately not bits n pieces , he can bowl 10 overs full not giving much every day ...

Binny was bits n pieces so yea manju doesnt knw whats bits n pieces, he himself was mediocre by that logic he was bits n pieces but he wasnt.....if u can do one job fully u aint bits n pieces. Here we consider extra skills n bits n pieces which is the worst way to judge

Saini isn't a weak link by any means ,he has a very good yorkar and can seam the ball and what I saw he has some batting capabilities as well don't be a jerk man

That wasn’t a reflection of Saini’s talent but you know Aussies will target the 3rd seamer be it Saini or Siraj or Natarajan or Thakur. Saini is obviously better than all of those guys.

For me I think saini is good enough to be a third seamer and everyone is allowed to have a bad match here and there. We are playing one day cricket after such a long time our team is fully rusty to the workload of a odi match , atleast aus had the ashesh series ,I also felt that this pitch was quite good even if not a 370 plus total one a 340 plus one for sure it was the top order that got out cheaply and that's fine it also presented some time for lower order I'm actually very disappointed with rahul I have very high hopes for him

Now that Saini has been identified as the next in line, he needs to be given atleast 10 ODIs on the trot and told about this before hand.

He can bowl attacking lines and lengths at high pace, seam the ball, get bounce and has a good yorker.

And as you said, he can bat somewhat.

He must be encouraged to use these abilities with a free mind and not worry about getting dropped for the time being.

This is how new players are developed.

nbot only 10 ODI he shud play regularly for India for next 2 yrs all format , thats how he ll develop quick playing at highest format. He is at his peak, play him as much as possible ....he ll have off days ignore it. Their wud be enough rest for him based on condition, the more he plays the more he ll get better to be the leader of attack

I am talking about just ODIs here.

I would love Saini to play tests too, but if Ishant returns he will have to sit out.

What is important is ... if any one among the top 3 quicks are not available, Saini must be the one who is chosen to play tests.
