Trichromatic Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Top order collapses will happen. It is bound to happen when good, ATG bowlers get new ball on helpful tracks. But at times your middle-lower order bail you out (maybe 1-2 times out of 10) resulting in memorable wins or become difference between 100 A.O and 180 A.O. But I was finding it difficult to recall last time when middle-lower order scored 50+ to become top scorer of team and bail us out somewhat. I am not talking about match results, rather just that inning. I had a feeling that even in low scores it's top order who scores and #5-#11 just supported somewhat at best. Mostly it's Pujara and Kohli even on tough tracks all the time. I am not saying it to happen 10 out of 10 times, but at least team needs heriocs may be 2 out of 10 times. Only instance I could recall was Pandya's knock against SA. I think we are missing that 2nd center of batting in mid-lower order and center of these failure is Ajinkya Rahane. So, checked all scores below 250 overseas and here is the list. India - 250, Pujara - 123, Pant 25, Ashwin 25, Sharma 37, Team was 3/19 v Aus India - 247, Kohli - 41, Rahane 48, Bhuvi 33, v SA India - 187, Kohli 54, Pujara 50, Bhuvi 30 v SA, total collapse by lower order 43-6 lower order India - 244, Kohli 74, Pujara, 43, Rahane 40 v Aus India - 242 Shaw 54, Pujara, 54, Vihari 55, v NZ (lost last 6 for 48, 26 runs 10th wicket partship) India - 124 Puraja 24, total collapse India - 209 Pandya 96, Pujara 24 v SA India - 135 Ashwin 37, Kohli 28 v SA same match India - 191 Mayank 58, Rahane 29 v NZ India - 165, Rahane 46, Mayank 34 v NZ India - 184, Kohli 58, Rahane 51 v Eng India - 162 Kohli 51, Pandya 31 India - 151 Sharma 47 v SA India - 140, Rahane 30, Pant 30 Vihari 28 v Aus India - 130 Ashwin 33 v Eng India - 107 Ashwin 29 v Eng (same match) India - 112 Rahane 36 v SA On top of that, when top order (Pujara, Kohli and others) score, then on multiple ocassions, #5-#11 collapse like anything resulting in difference between win and loss. We can dig those matches also. 6 years of consistent failure - 100% unmatched record. No flukes, no mentally strength, no ability to take on bowlers. aditya19, chewy and zen 3

But he is better test batsman than Ganguly. Overall way below Ganguly as cricketer.
R!TTER Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Where did I say you posted Rahane is a "great" test batter? Ankit_sharma03 Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 in lower middle order u need someone to attack to bail you out as most time ull be batting with tail
R!TTER Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Maybe to you? He is useless, to this team, but still better than Ganguly? So you're saying Ganguly would be worse than useless to this team

R!TTER Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Yup I won't, I know it's not comprehension (issue) from my side. Good luck to whatever you're trying to pull

Trichromatic Posted December 20, 2020 Author Posted December 20, 2020 Only player to retain his place is Rahane. Rest all keep on losing their places even though they are AR.
