Pant and his 4th Innings love affair

Does pant reserve his best for the 4th innings on the final day ? We have missed that sort of player for ages ,perhaps vvs I'd say.

I have seen people say he only performs when there is no expectation or pressure on him to discount that century in england, but there is tremendous pressure today both for the team and his personal career with dropping two catches and saha covering for him in second innings and he went on to play one of the best counter attacks for india.

 

He is 23 now and already played three sensational innings overseas. Dhoni debuted in tests at 24 I think and went on to become one of our best wkb.. pant is going to be a legend

• made a brilliant 100 in england
• Made runs in Semi Final 
• despite being out of form in IPL this yr made runs in Final 
• Made 97 today 
• Most of all avg of 64 in 4th innings

Closest to Gilchrist. Even if he underachieves he can be a better version of Kock/Baz, priceless. 

 

Want him to improve his keeping against spin, hope he spends a lot of time with Saha in practice sessions. Learn from the world's best, and if he gets used to keeping to Ash/Jaddu in India, best learning experience possible.

 

Sky is the limit for him, hope he is part of many memorable SENA test and ICC KO wins.

Pant played with such clarity, it blew my mind. I've only seen Laxman do this back in the day. It's a heavy comparison but Pant can only get better from here. Scary possibilities with this guy. The potential is immense. I just hope he works on some basic wicket keeping to just shut up the last remaining haters.

Left handers are clutch...  Pant can be the one after Raina (In LOIs).  But I think Test cricket suits him more ..  The field sets & everything.  David Warner once said that there are certain shots off a LHB can be dots in ODIs but scoring shots in Test cricket.  Pant seems to have that & decent defence & Technique to succeed  as well.

TM should just give him 3 consecutive series to allow him to fully develop. He is a work in progress and is not going to become a finished product if he is yanked out of the team again and again.
