maniac Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 Indian batting have issues with darter type spinners at home- Okeefe, Panesar, Harris,Clarke and a few others Ali is good enough batsman to open the batting in SC conditions in fact his batting was very highly rated initially which didn’t live up to the hype. He will be the biggest thorn in the flesh this series. Not Root,Stokes, Butler,Bairstow, Woakes,Anderson,Brosd but this guy. Watch out for him.
maniac Posted January 27, 2021 Author Posted January 27, 2021 Has he recovered from Covid yet? I believe he will be available for the 1st test
Ankit_sharma03 Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 He wont be successful with ball Gill , rohit, pujara, pant all play spin well
Ankit_sharma03 Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 He failed last time also when he came to india. Its a diff ball game when u have sg ball in hand

Dangerous player

Moeen ali is far less skill full then kumble n ashwin Just now, maniac said: He has all the tools to succeed in India more than Woakes and Stokes the bowler. They have a plan in place for root and stokes too. Their 2 batsmen.

But bumrah is going to play in his hometown so I think it's still going to be extremely hard for England. But with Umesh and Shami out maybe 2 0 India.

Their 2 batsmen. of course not but my point was all things neutralized, he is actually a very dangerous player who is probably the best suited to these conditions. I know he is not a Pakistani from Pakistan but he looks more like a SC born and bred player with bat, ball as well as his lethargic fielding. Edited January 27, 2021 by maniac

I think kohli will prefer ishant who isnt a same force on indian pitches with SG ball
Soldier Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 I think mooen is going to get destroyed this time as well. Not only in bowling, even in batting. India is far better in bowling compared to last time when England played in 2016.
R!TTER Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 Moen's effectiveness depends a lot on how we decide to play him remember Sharma holing out to Lyon the last test? Well that's exactly how he got out against the overrated guy in 3rd test England 2014, that was the slide which lost us the game & eventually the series 66.2 how abominably awful! He is bent over his bat at the crease, depicting poignant disappointment but this was a seriously poor shot. Came down and lifted a tame delivery right down mid-off's throat when England were trying to give their main bowlers a breather. And tea was barely five minutes away 210/5 https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/india-tour-of-england-2014-667693/england-vs-india-3rd-investec-test-667715/full-scorecard A lot of Moen's wickets have been the batter taking him on, he was ineffective last time in India because we didn't need to & decided we shouldn't gift him easy wickets! neel roy 1
Rightarmfast Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 I dont know why Indian posters on this forum are so pessimist and so scared? Our players are no dud. They are well adept to handle an Ali on song. Stan AF 1

Lone Wolf Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 I think watch out for him with bat.. His slog sweeps would be effective against Kuly Ashwin. With the ball not so much.
Serpico Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 Moeen is woefully out of form, he has 5 half centuries and zero 100s in last 4 years (over 23 test matches). He won't be in the starting XI for sure. Maybe if leach/bess underperforms at chennai, he will get in for last two matches

I guess he was going through a lean patch with the bat then (not as much as this time) still he struck a ton & managed to do well somehow.

One word: EGO. Many a cases India has lost a test due to batsmens ego of pulling out shots against spinners and to dominate. The biggest example other than the above + all of Rohits crazy dismissals is 1. Saha. Adelaide test 2014. He hit a six of Lyon. Virat was going great other end. He couldnt control his ego and went for another six. We lost the test we lost the series 2. 2nd Test Mumbai. 2012. India trailing by only 86 runs. England to bat last. We had Ashwin, Ojha, Harbhajan and Yuvraj Singh in our ranks. We just need to be patient, score 260 odd and give England a target of 150 to chase on a Day 5 crumbling pitch. 20.2 oh my goodness! What has Kohli done! A big full toss from Swann and he's slapped it straight to mid-off. Came off towards the bottom of the bat as it twisted in his hands. The ground goes silent. No one can really believe they've seen that. Joe Root, on as sub, is the man to take the catch 65/4 India all out for 142. England tie the series 1-1 and go on to win it 2-1 Just bloody curb the ego and play the ball as per merit.. you ll anyways get a bad ball to hit for 4. Start attacking and dominating after you reach 50.
QuarantineTormentino Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 I think we can show some faith in our boys, they played Lyon very well in Aus
