Farmers are not fools,they have noted the shady scheme. Hence the protest Question is, why would farmers trade outside APMC in the first place. ? They shouldn't. They can go to APMC and sell it there. Their trade will cost them 7% as it stands right now, 3% state, 3% adhtiya/middle man and 1% some other fees. Why would farmer try to sell their produce outside APMC when they can easily get 93% of worth in return from APMC without any hassle. Here is an illustration. Farmers with produce with 100 - APMC option - 93 - Outside opt 1 - 90 - Outside opt 2 - 95 - Outside opt 3 - 91 - Outside opt 4 - 92 - Outside opt 5 - 93 Farmer will sell to APMC only not the outside option 2. If they do that then they will earn more and apparently protest is happening because they want everything other than APMC should be discarded so that farmers can continue to get 93% returns.

Farmers will always be enticed to trade outside of APMC by lucrative offers that promise a higher price than msp. However, there is no guarantee that buyers will not resort to deduction later in the name of quality.
