rangeelaraja Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 No Test team doctors home pitches like NZ. They get away with it as a smaller test playing country and one that has " great spirit". Their pitches outright favor their kind of bowling. Ditto England. Ditto Australia. Hope we don't try to be a "nice" host an try and make England comfortable and our spinners impotent. We don't have any point to prove to anyone now. Few years in history, if England win on the subcontinent they always call it win on subcontinental "dustbowls"....well if they are going to call our pitches dustbowls anyway, why care...why not dishout dustbowls. Looking for Ashwin and Sundar to dominate on their home turf. SrinjayDutta, raki05, Under_Score and 1 other 2 1 1
Soldier Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 Lol at dustbowls. Those times are long gone. India prepare fair pitches that are not too spin friendly nor pace friendly. We are going to absolutely humiliate England if umesh shami are back soon. Even without them we will win 2 0. cowboysfan 1
Soldier Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 Colonial twats can't win anywhere but on doctored swing friendly pitches. I have sick of the poms. Hope we actually take them seriously when we play them like we do vs Aussies. If we do take them seriously then we can win away in their own pitches as well.

When test matches in NZ and England finish within 2.5 days ( especially NZ ) - on unplayable seaming tracks - all is well. No doctored pitches, infact it is counted as brilliance of Anderson and Boult...etc and incompetence of Indian batters on foreign soil. Doctored pitches are only when they favor Indian spinners. It annoys me like anything. We should not afraid of preparing spin friendly pitches where matches end within 3 days. Under_Score 1

Gollum Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 (edited) India and Australia prepare the most sporting decks, provide something for everybody and perfect bat-ball balance. India has been even better than Aus the last decade or so IMO. Hats off to our curators, best in the world just like our cricket team. There is a reason why we have 2 of the 5 best test batsmen in the world, 2/3 best spinners in the world (won't write off Lyon) and the best pace attack of the last 5 years. No need to be modest at all. We are killers. Just need to sort out opening pair and pick right selections for balance depending on Condtions.
express bowling Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 A typical Indian test match pitch is a sporting track nowadays. And this is the the period where we have a 12 test series winning streak at home. Both our pacers and spinners have won us most of the test matches at home ... on such sporting decks and flat tracks. I thing we have prepared just 2 rank turners in the last 5 years ... and lost 1 of those test matches.

But the englishman curator from tamil nadu looks like he's blinded by safedi ki chamkaar. As far as I know, Team India does not want rank turners these days. Most of the current Indian batters can't bat that well when the ball is turning square. While the pedestrian foreign spinners become potent on turning tracks. At least half the tests we have played at home, against non-Asian teams in the last 5 years, have had some grass on the pitches ... and we have won all those tests. Hojoborolo and Suhaan 2

The OPs point that BBC and others in English media are always going to set the narrative that their team were playing in dustbowls regardless of the type of pitch we serve is true. Like I said, we play to our strength without caring about others - and if it means a harder pitch with something for pacers that's cool. But if tomorrow it turns out our team is better served with square turners, we shouldn't get queasy about it either. Absolutely ! If rank turners suit us after 2 years or 4 years, we should prepare rank turners only. The only obligation we have towards the touring sides is providing them with the same quality fooding and lodging and security facilities that our team receives when we travel to their countries. My point in this thread and the other one is that ... the conditions that suit us in the last 5 years is different from what suited us in the 1990s and 2000s decade. And we should prepare pitches to suit our current strengths and not the old ones. Trying to please touring sides with pitch types should not even be a far fetched option. Don't you think it plays to the advantage of teams like Aus, Eng, NZ? NZ is coming for a 2 test series later this year, hope we don't give them any chance of competing, shut those *ers out from ball one. After the pitches they served last year, need some payback. Still annoys me that after the trash they served in 2002 (and the likes of Fleming throwing shade at our batsmen), we welcomed them with pattas in 2004, they escaped with 0-0. They deserved nothing less than 2004 Wankhede type akharas back then. express bowling and Jimmy Cliff 2

Serpico Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 (edited) Traditionally the Chepauk pitch has worn a bald look. However this time around it has been lush green across the square and the outfield. "There is no open spot. The outfield has a soft bed and is lush green," Ramesh says Ramesh is confident about what could be in store in the next two weeks. "We are working to get a sporting wicket," he says. "It will be a typical Chepauk pitch with English look. It will work for all three departments. It will be a keen contest between bat and ball. First day, there will be something for the fast bowlers. Second and third days will favour batsmen. Fourth day onwards there will be wear and tear and support the spinners." The groundsmen are working on two different types of pitch with varying soil profiles. One is purely red soil, but its character is different to the red soil at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, which generally provides bounce and assistance to all bowlers. The red soil in Chennai, on the other hand, can become flat quickly once rolled. This is one reason - at the moment - the pitch will have a greenish cover on the first day. The second pitch has a mixed profile: a base with the local red soil of about three inches with a top layer comprising black clay. A final decision on which pitch will host the first Test will be made in the days leading up to the match. https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/india-vs-england-chepauk-accidental-curator-set-to-roll-out-pitch-with-english-look-1249664 Edited January 31, 2021 by Serpico

There's no guarantee what could have happened on rank turner. Even Wankhede 2004 was pretty close and we won a crucial toss thankfully There's always risk of collapse on such wildcard pitches. Even 2002 NZ series wasn't total drubbing, NZ collapsed to 94 in second test first innings. They were lucky that they won both the tosses just like last year. It's better to have good pitches and remove toss out of equation than prepare rank turner for badla and gamble the series Hojoborolo 1

Enough of this bullshit. I am sick of those twats. They need to be buried for good. We need to take them seirously. I am sure we will this time.

NhA. We should aim to what them in their own crappy pitches. We just need to start playing them with the same intensity we display vs Australia. That's all.

That doesn't change anything. Indian pacers should outbowl the Sena pacers on doctered pitches so they will not take such risks again. (And our panautis should also win some tosses ffs) After the 2006 tour to SA when sreeshanth scared saffers by running through their lineup, SA prepared good pitches in subsequent tour. After pune debacle when Steve O'Keefe ran through ours, we didn't prepare another rank turner since. Defeating is the best way to stop home teams from preparing awful pitches next time. Wish we played a good swing bowler in NZ and won a match so they won't pull it again

Never heard Lord's pitch with Indian look or Cape Town pitch with Galle look. BCCI couldn't find someone better to do this job? express bowling 1
