"Players we think who dominate this decade" https://www.thecricketmonthly.com/story/1224850/20-cricketers-for-the-2020s I was expecting to see atleast 3 to 4 from Pakistan and 2 to 3 from Lanka...few from Bangladesh... Surprisingly...biggest list in terms of numbers is from Afghanistan and after that India.. Honestly, I am happy...I have a soft-corner for Afghanistan...but i am surprised with the passion they have for the game and churning out good talents.... With this pace...they will become better team than Bangladesh in no time ... It doesn't mean much but still an achievement...

And their novelty factor seems to continue for a longer stretch. So they will continue to surprise so called big teams every now and then but anything beyond that is not on the horizon unless they get a world class pacer and two world class batsman

Made a thread on international young talents, mentioned these afghan players as well. In next 5-10 yrs they ll have great stock for LOI. Every IPL team will have 1-2 of them. At international level they will bully pakistan, bangladesh, SL and wud not be easy for top sides as well

Not much difference really may be.. one thing I like watching Afg/Ire is their ability to hit sixers. They can really tonk the ball.. faintly remember some game ( 2008 asia cup? ) when Afg first came to light.. they beat BD and main diff was their batsman smashing sixers all over the park.
Vk1 Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 Once you reach a level.. being strong naturally and having muscular ability will keep you in top 5.. that alone wont help you to become nbr 1 though.. one of the reason why NZ with such a small pool of players have been doing so brilliantly.. cricket needs that power for batting and bowling.

Not aware of the upcoming bowlers. I think Hamid Hassan and Dawlat Zadran were pretty quick. Both have bowled 145+ in the past. Edited February 3, 2021 by Rightarmfast themask 1
Serpico Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 Surprised to see Haris Rauf in that list, I seriously doubt he will even play cricket for this entire decade, let alone dominate it. That dude must be 30 at least. Seems like a poorly researched list they made from currently hot t20 bashers around the world. No cam green/pucovski, no crawley who is only 23 and already has a double ton, Bangla just won a U19 world cup last year, yet only one player made into that list? Plus there is always the question of age fudging with sub continent players, especially from afghan.

Lone Wolf Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 Don't think they'll be a powerhouse that soon.. Country will likely go into another turmoil with American pull out. That place has never been stable since like forever. However they'll produce good guys suited for T20 cricket. Occasional upsets will happen in ODI cricket as long as they play more.

Afg yet to beat India Pak & I guess Lanka too in a T20. Their batting line up is very weak Imo. Pace attack is joke even in T20s. Mujeeb has been found out. Rashid is still quality though.

Afghan hasn't played a T20I against india/pak/lanka in 5+ years so that head to head stuff isn't relevant. They dominated Bangladesh in the T20 games against each other and also qualified to WT20 straight away and are directly in the main group. Bangla on the other hand has to play in the qualifiers against Namibia and co before advancing to the main group.

BD still has beaten top teams for now. Afghanistan's performance in World cup kinda exposed them against good teams. Afg needs more games against top teams before we judge them. They are not the 2nd best Asian team by a long shot. Lankans & Pakistan are better atm. Lanka needs to sort itself out they've still got explosive batsmen in T20s but average bowling. Hojoborolo 1
Soldier Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 Such a useless pace bowling attack. Afghans lack stamina and power. They are tough though. They are good in spin Condtions however. When there is more money pumped into their domestic system if they ever get one then we shall see them challenging the likes of Pak, Lanka and India. express bowling 1
