You can but they will be more successful at more venues as relatively more countries play on pitches that support a variety of bowlers ... they can afford to ignore Indian conditions, which does not even produce good cricket  ... Ind spinners tend to draw a blank overseas

Many Ind batsmen are HTB. However, good Ind batsmen have turned that around over the years (Pujara recently). There are no parallels there. Ind spinners of late have almost zero pedigree overseas

I am talking about his overall home record. His away avg is still in 30s isn't it? one or two good series won't give a 37 avging batsman any kind of pedigree

If you do well (including scoring 500+ runs with 3 100s in a series) in 3-4 series over a short period, it is good enough

so Pujara should only have anotehr 2-3 500 run series away from home to be considered as a serious batsman

He already has 3-4 good series overseas - the 500 one is like a crown (which is a rare occurrence in Ind's history) ... If a spinner picks up 20+ wkts in a 4 match series with 3 5-ers and has a few good other series as well, he would have turned it around too

This a wrong thread to compare a great bowler and good batsman . How does a thread on mediocre bowlers getting 5fers become a stats comparison of Ashwin and Pujara

Tbh this pitch, although not desirable, is at least fair to both teams. Takes the toss completely out of equation. 

 

Worst pitches for me are those which drastically change character through the course of the match thus making the toss extremely crucial. Like the 1st test of this series. 

 

Also, this pitch is anyday better than those boring ultra flat pitches we used to see aplenty in the 2000s.

But a bad ad for test cricket. D/N tests themselves are bad for test cricket. Match getting over in 1.5 days  , I am losing precious time of discussing how Pujara is becoming like Rahane at home

Yeah, that's why I called this pitch undesirable. But still I would prefer it over 'ultra-flat' and 'win toss win match' pitches.

Also, with WTC in mind, we will see this kind of pitch again in the last test. We will go for the kill, Eng is pathetic in the spin dept.
