ash Posted February 25, 2021 Posted February 25, 2021 (edited) Interesting that our Fab 4 each had their own technique to counter Spin Laxman - Didn't sweep much, but constantly came down the track to whip it to the leg side. Great wrists Sachin - Sweep was his main weapon , his paddle sweeps used to frustrate Warne. combined with down the track to hit bowlers out of the park to disrupt their line Dravid - He rarely came down the track, didn't sweep but used to pick the length very very quickly. He had a trigger movement , planted his front foot but was so quick to rock back to the back foot.rarely misjudged Viru - Just terrific hand eye coordination. Seeing how our batsmen are struggling , which method do you think is easy to adopt out of these 4. They are getting stuck at the crease so maybe they can learn from Dravid on how to judge length? Or Practice sweeping like Sachin? Run down the track like Laxman or just Hit it out like Viru Edited February 25, 2021 by ash
Serpico Posted February 25, 2021 Posted February 25, 2021 I think both Pujara and Kohli average more against spin than Fab 4
nitinbwj Posted February 25, 2021 Posted February 25, 2021 (edited) Agreed but i have a small correction Viru - Hated spinners and thought they were not the real bowlers Edited February 25, 2021 by nitinbwj
putrevus Posted February 25, 2021 Posted February 25, 2021 Other than Viru, I think everyone else was a suspect too. Viru could get out first ball but also score 100 on crumbling pitch. People keeping harping on how Warne was tackled by Fab four but those pitches were not played on these bunsen burners.Warne was never great against India. Shahid Afridi won the test against India in Bangalore, so did Shaun Udal. let us not forget Mendis's magic. Yes this generation are worse than the Fab four. To me Viru was the difference. Adamant 1

I remember watching Pujara in his early days and he was a good player of spin. Now he isn't even comparing himself to Sundar forget about Sachin/Dravid/Laxman/Viru. Pujara looks completely lost against spin right now. Virat.. he doesnt look as bad but he is not on top of his game for sure. Exactly anyone who believes Kohli & Pujara are good players of spin currently is living in la la land. I was f** nervous whenever Lyon came to bowl at him in Aus... He was making Puji dance constantly.. He is not the same force against spin now. Warne would make him look like a Tailender or heck even Stuart McGill kohli, Cricspin and Vickydev 1 2
