chewy Posted March 16, 2021 Posted March 16, 2021 Only two out of Rohit, Dhawan and Kohli can be in the World Cup T20 squad Can't have both Iyer and Rahul in the XI, especially if Rahul also wants to 'anchor'. I am not sure what juice the selectors are drinking but India T20 team ain't going to post anything near 180 batting first when filled with these slow potatoes: IPL Career Strike rates: Rohit - 131 Dhawan - 127 Kohli - 131 Iyer - 126 Rahul - 136 I am not sure in what world Iyer makes it into the starting XI of India T20 As a benchmark, India's best T20 player, Suresh Raina, had an IPL career strike rate of 137! at just under 200 games! Most of England's current first choice batsmen play in the IPL and all of them have SR around or above 140, just shows how mediocre are India's established 'stars' at T20 batting, even in IPL. If we carry on with this sub par T20 players, expect India being outsmacked by England, West Indies, NZ and Australia. Rohit wants 15 overs before switching to forever waiting Hulk mode, Dhawan wants 15 overs before he explodes, Kohli wants 15 overs running out 1 or 2 of his partners on the way before striking at 200. And now Lokesh has joined this famous 'anchor'club. Moochad, nitinbwj and Sandeep99 1 1 1
zen Posted March 16, 2021 Posted March 16, 2021 ... also Ind likely to be 50/3 in a knockout game (if it makes it with such a top 5) Banton 1

This despite going in with a long batting line-up. The power Dhawan, Rohit and Kohli - out of their depth in T20 internationals. Whilst England were comfortable cruising past 40 in all matches even with horribly out of form Jason Roy (and he can't play spin for sh!t). Banton and zen 1 1

Ankit_sharma03 Posted March 16, 2021 Posted March 16, 2021 why wud u put their IPL s/r when they have played enough international cricket

I feel many of these bi-lateral T20 internationals not as competitive and sometimes are after thought after a long Test or ODI series. Especially overseas tour where India T20 and ODI squad are often identical.

And yet likes of Warner and Butler still outperform Rohit, Kohli and Dhawan as openers. zen and Bread_Pitt 1 1

Yep, IPL is like a world event where players face multiple teams and challenges (including playing v top players familiar with conditions) unlike bilaterals where you play against same set of players (many unfamiliar with conditions relatively) Edited March 16, 2021 by zen

So how many Indian openers are in IPL.How many Indians are playing at number3.What are their SRs vs SRs of players from other countries who are being paid to become IPL openers.
Moochad Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 agree 100%, max 2 of them should play. T20 side needs a youth movement
