So can govt ban such companies or not? Simple question. Arresting people is done by every party or govt as law and order is a state subject. It doesn't come into central govt purview.

They can. Reasons they give  are political nothing to do with so called "national interest".  Also they don't speak for majority of the public.

Twitter isn't a platform to decide whether Modi should resign or not. Why is Twitter supporting people looking to destabilize an elected govt. Such paid campaigns by vested  interests strengthen the confirmation bias of the common people and make Modi strong, creating a cult.

They can if India wants to be called  a democratic country.

Resignmodi is attack on Indian Democratic system unless it is made constitutional to select Indian PM based on facebook /twitter campaigns. If its not case then various institutions are right in taking down such campaign on so called intermediary or make whatever law they like under constitution

No. It is not unless he got 100% of the votes from India.

You are basically silencing the voices of those who oppose him. That is not democracy. That is dictatorship.

Most of these hash tag campaigns are paid. Some of them emerges from Pakistan using fake Indian handles via their IT terrorism cells. Here's an example of how vested interests try to change perspectives. You seem too naive to understand how social media is playing a role in false propaganda.

Are you saying every Indian agrees with Modi? I understand the Pakistan angle. I myself have seen. But there are so many others in India also expressed the same sentiments.  Even during 2016 election Russians indulged in extensive propaganda. But ruling government taking a call on that is not democratic. If every other party is onboard with that then it is fine. But it is almost like they want to protect their party rather than country.

I didn't say everyone agree with Modi. Even I don't at many points but we don't want twitter campaigns affect people and dictate terms. It is dangerous. It is dividing people into ideologies. We are becoming a mere ideology than humans. Last few years has been so shocking in Indian context  If you don't agree with one group, you are termed bhakt and vice versa. People have become just political pawns where people with opposite views are ready to jump on you.

It is already divided. It is always going to be divided. If Congress comes to power (miraculously) you think BJP supporters will say the same? Common people should worry about their own interest. Not about interest of a party. BJP is not India. Congress is not India. Attacking Modi is not Attacking India.  Bhakts are the ones who defend anything and everything that one side does. World leaders are ridiculed by people from other countries. Democratic countries should not stifle it to make themselves look good. Trying to do that will only make their image worse.

Next week will see a dip in deaths accelerate.

Posotivity is still at 9% but it should start to dip in the south barring kerala in the next week. Ditto north east. Feel we are entering the end game re this wave.

Come on dude. Maharashtra has been the worst hit state in both waves. In both cases the state gov (of which cong is a third wheel) supporters have defended the gov as every step in vernacular media. Why do you think its only bjp supporters who blindly defend?

I encourage people on this forum to read sakal, maharashtra's most read newspaper based in pune and run by the brother and nephew of sharad pawar. You will get an impression that the state Gov performed miraculously well.

You are from Tn. You must know the total media domination of the dmk. Mk stalin has blocked many Rw journalists already for asking why coimbatore is not getting vaccines. Modi on Twitter has done no such thing. Try to say anthing against "the Harvard of Madurai " Ptr Raja. You will get an army of trolls spamming and abusing you. I merely asked him once since he did a Phd , where can i read any articles written in a reputable journal. I was blocked and was flooded with abuse from the dmk it cell. This was 2 months ago.

The truth is the regional outfit supporters are much blinder.  I think you are way off the mark with your assessment.

Now again you are putting everything on one side. While both sides are equally culpable. The other side attacks on everything Modi does. I would say the day other side stop attacking Modi needlessly and start focusing on facts and talk logically, Modi followers would eventually stop fighting back. Irrational hate prevents any logical and constructive thinking. It just strengthens confirmation bias of the other group and create cults.

"Needlessly" is the operative word. Who gets to decide when to criticize Modi? Certainly not his fans for sure.  Didn't BJP followers make a caricature out of Manmohan singh during his tenure? It is not hate. Trust me. Many Modi supporters also criticized him about his handling of COVID in 2021.  Usual political exchanges between the supporters is not something i am talking about. When we are talking about genuine mishaps of the administration why getting so defensive. Blaming everything under the sun. No government has worried more about "image" than this government. It is all about having a good "image". In this era that is the most counter-productive thing to do. Every news paper in the world is on to that. All the government had to do was focusing on the impending task at hand rather than focusing on image.  Not like that will change his political destiny. Modi is at a time when his party's opposition is at its weakest point. BJP should not attempt to dilute the negative press by gaslighting the situation. It is the greatest democracy in the world. It should stay as one.

Not true. DMK has been ridiculed by everyone for the last few years. Infact EPS from ADMK is a well liked guy. Their only mistake was joining hands with BJP. Otherwise ADMK had a real shot at retaining the power.  THey made a joke out of Stalin. I have seen other governments at the center as well. Vajpayee, Manmohan etc.  Every body had some base. But this kind of worshipping is different level. Even MGR was worshipped only by rural area people. Here educated circle  are practically slaves to this administration.

Needless because they criticize everything. Criticize him on Covid for whatever the issues. But we are having long movements over farm laws, before that agitation over CAA and article 370.  This is what is needless. Some people have not left any stone unturned to destabilize the country over these issues. I don't consider myself an ideological slave whether right or left but my pinch is destabilization of the country by people who have different ideology than the establishment. They don't understand that destabilization hurts poor people the most for whom they are supposed to work and it's for everyone whoever is in power or in opposition.

Again why do you think they are wrong. Convince them instead of silencing them. Whole idea of democracy is not silencing people you don't like. Why do you think country is destabilized if he is democratically elected. You don't expect every single person to be on the page as the administration do you?  If India wants to be taken seriously they should be strong enough not to worry about how the west perceives them, how the opposition perceives them. Ultra-nationalism helps polarizing votes. Not uniting a country.  For politicians it is a win-win situation. I can't speak the same for public. It will only please those who are already onboard with the  administration. Not people with grievances.

Admk were facing 10 years of incumbancy. Would have lost anyway, with or without bjp. One could argue that it was bjp support that allowed admk to complete their term.

And i also feel you are reading the media situation in tn wrongly. But thats a debate for another thread. The point remains Mk stalin has blocked Rw handles on Twitter from journalists. Modi has not done so.

Admk always had personal worship. Be it mgr or jayalalitha. Its also unfair to just classify it as urban or rural. Coimbatore district is mostly urban. Usually votes admk.

I reiterate. Worship is much much stronger in regional parties of india. There is even a cult worship of the Thakarey family in mumbai. These are urban dwellers.

I can vouch after MGR nobody worshipped anybody in TN. That too only by rural people. Jayalalitha worship was done by opportunistic politicians. Public? Not much.  Both ADMK and DMK have lost badly various times.

IF you are talking about twitter blocking that is his prerogative to do. I have no issues Modi blocking twitter handles.  I am talking about influencing twitter to ban hashtags.
