where are the indian fast bowlers? disappointed seeing medium pacers and some medium pacers who have turned into slow trundlers like Nattu and Sandeep sharma. cant even call them trundlers now, need to coin a new term for how they bowl now - under 125K. arjun is under 131K trundler.

Kartik tyagi? Mohsin ? Prasidh? Nagarkoti? kuldeep sen? even arshdeep is bowling under 140K. shammi is rested a bit. Umesh is also a bit slow.

i dont want to see foriegn fast bowlers nortje, green .

That is why this IPL has been very low on quality. No exciting young fast bowler or no exciting young batsmen.

Ishant has returned also.

Is Avinash Singh of RCB as quick as Umran? That's the word going around...

Read somewhere Avinash clocked 153 kmph at trials or in RCB camp. Umran is genuine 150 kmph bowler.

Those kind of pacer are not easy to find. Not sure if Avinash is in same bracket. With some support and guidance Umran can come near to 155 kmph and threaten the WR.

Was hoping good show from new pacers this IPL as intnl bowler will not be pushing hard to avoid injury as this being WC year,

And seeing Mohsin nearly made it to Ind team if not that injury and Umran has earned intnl cap in just 1 proper season, younger lot had lot more incentive to showcase their talent.

This IPL has been v.disappointing in terms of new pacer or batters - No new bowler able to work-up the pace to 140+ consistently, more so many were not able to get to 135 kmph.

Not a single standout talent this year

I am quite SHOCKED to say the Least that " what are the coaches doing with Umran Malik"

May be i am wrong but it seems who ever is training Umraan is not doing a good job for Sure.

he is a Natural talent , a national treasure. coaches have to just tell him what is a GOOD BALL and what are BAD BALLS?

even my son when he was in class 8th knew that a FULL toss ball OR a SHORT BALL ( pitched at 35 %of the pitch is a BAD Ball.

they have to just tell what are good BALLS?

Good balls are ball that are on second third fourth fifth stumps. they should be pitching at Good Length( on or around) or should be a perfect Yorker.

if you bowl a bouncer , it should be chin music, hit the chin or the ears or the Head and mind you these should not be pitched at 30 % of pitch but a little more so that batsman has little time to understand.

i can guarantee that the coaches are not Intelligent enough as if they are ex international cricketers , they have the right experience and their technical expertise related to cricket would be better than mine.

I think Umran Malik knows very well what is a good ball and what is a bad ball given the batsman and the field - he is not clinically r*tarded. I think his problem is that he just cannot control as often as he would like where the ball will end up (recall, e.g., Devon Malcolm, who had similar problems).

The problem is that accuracy comes from repetitions. And for someone who is supposed to bowl full tilt, the repetitions have to be at full tilt too. But too many such repetitions are also not going to be healthy, for the same reason the stock bowlers' role in first-class cricket - the long tireless holding spell a la Neil Wagner - is usually left to those otherwise derided as "trundlers", the Toyota Priuses of bowling, whilst the Ferarris are brought out only for short sharp bursts ...

I think someone like Umran Malik will actually be most impactful in first-class cricket. Because if he goes for a 20+ over, two "trundlers" can come on and bowl 20 overs each at under 2 an over ;-)

Typically, if you have a surplus of bowlers who can sustain 150, two can be retrained to "trundle" accurately at around 140.

Top red ball bowlers, who have pace, bowl 20+ overs frequently.

Top pacers like Bumrah, Cummins or Steyn bowl or used to bowl their stock spells with the red ball at 135 k to 143 k ... and crank it up to 140 k to 147 k / 150 k when conditions flatten out

Medium pacers bowling 130 k to 137 k are not really needed for long spells unless one gets steep bounce like McGrath or Pollock  ( which poses an extra challenge ).

Umran can follow a similar approach in red ball cricket. Bowl his stock spells with the red ball at 137 k to 147 k and crank it up to 142 k to 152 k when conditions flatten out.

Kane used to handle Umran well. In contrast Markram so far has been very ordinary. Yesterday was a prime example. Why was he introduced in the 12th over?
And this is after Jansen was bowling total rubbish??  Also has Lara had any coaching experience? Their strategies have been downright poor.

He should have been introduced in the 7th or 8th over. Like seriously WTF.  And after a brilliant second over, why was he taken off? Was in such good rhythm yesterday.
These are some very ordinary decisions. Heck even KL used him well in the Bangladesh ODIs.  No wonder SRH is struggling badly in the points table.

Like I said earlier, SRH should play both Umran and Tyagi with Bhuvi. They have 2 decent spinners too.

What’s this fascination with Farookis and Jansen? I’m sure Tyagi and Umran are good enough. Not sure about Tyagi but Umran’s accuracy ain’t bad. When he went for runs, it was mainly coz some stupid planning / brain fart moments n field positions. A few matches earlier we were wondering if he can bowl full. Now when he is bowling full fast n slow balls, we are wondering if he has length ball . There’s no reason to complicate stuff. To execute any of that at such high pace, u need more than 12 balls FFS. Lol

Just give these 2 bowlers some confidence. They are good enough.

btw..what bowling line up its turning out to be for Afghans..Rashid+Noor+Mujeeb.even Nabi.great variety and pentration in spin..middle overs..

Farooqi with left arm swing upfront..they just need one 145+ pace tall bowler..they will make it hell for other teams..

Pandu now 140+ bowler. Hope he can stay fit.

Occasionally, he does't go flat out everytime.
In a way it's good because his batting stocks are lower this season, so has to do something with the ball.
