Mohsin also bowled smartly in the death..in my opinion he is still not at his best fitness but these are good signs..perhaps he may improve further in pace by End of season if he remains injury free.. Mohsin releases the ball very late, hence he give batters less time to react, plus he can adjust the changes as well. That was the key for his success in 2022 when he was bowling 137-145. This year, he is around 132-139kph mark, hence the batters have a little more time to adjust and deposit to stands. Mohsin also don't swing the ball but more of a bounce bowler who mixes up with cutters. He really need to up his fitness, he is looking heavier and hence by first over itself he seems to be gasping for breath. Not a good sign specially when you're just 26 years old. I think he can good understanding of the game and he is quick to adapt. But he need to quickly work on his fitness. I remember Avesh made the same noise when he debuted for the first time in IPL for RCB. Was bowling heavy balls and Samson was uncomfortable in playing him. But as season progress, he was found out and his fitness nosedived. Mohsin can't afford to go that route. Need4Speed and tweaker 2
Nikhil_cric Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 Adding to the Bumrah discussion, he is not the model to develop a fast bowler - whether it's the run up or the action. He has massive hyperextension (probably 45 degrees lol) which allows him to generate a lot more pace than a bowler without any.

Mohsin definitely has higher ceiling... If he works on his fitness

He was lively 2 seasons ago, lost lot of venom since injury Even in the 22 season despite being quite economical,he lacked the indipper associated with left armers Now hes lacking pace as well,I don't find his current version above some left armers Need to see Sushant Misra soon in action to make an opinion who's the best/standout left armer in the country So,as of now ,sadly we don't have any quality left armer in the country express bowling, Need4Speed and Mosher 3

Is it just his conditioning and fitness or are there any technical issues in his action? Edited April 2, 2024 by Nikhil_cric
Teengunalagaan Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/how-mayank-yadav-grew-into-a-150kph-bowler-1427437 From the Cricinfo Article : "I remember he was bowling a few no-balls early on in training in the 2022 season," Dahiya said. "We told him to mark his run-up. He said, 'I don't have a run-up - from wherever I feel comfortable, I turn and run in'." Dahiya and LSG's coaches were gobsmacked. How could a bowler who had already played for his state not have a proper run-up? He was taught the importance of having one, and why it was necessary to take a breather before steaming in. We wonder why we these fast bowlers do not develop, this is the level of coaching that goes on at Ranji level, can't imagine what happens at a lower level. Absolutely basic stuff. express bowling, Mosher, Need4Speed and 1 other 3 1

Leave Ranji, he was being coached at famous Sonnet club who didn't create run up for him while run-up is the first thing a fast bowler needs. Teengunalagaan 1

All others fast medium including Bumrah, Shami, Siraj. Bumrah can be borderline fast but the pace ceiling is lower than a genuine fast bowler needed means some deliveries over 145 in a spell. Bumrah used to regularly cross 145 k in his spells with the older ball in the 2017 to 2022 period. Bowled 75 balls above 150 k in tests in 2018 accordung to Cricviz. Moreover, because he releases the ball well past the bowling crease, he feels about 6 kph quicker to the batters according to a study. Going by batsmen's statements, Bumrah felt quicker than Umesh. Saini was another genuine quick in the late 2010s. Ofcourse, Mayank, Umran and Tyagi are a notch above in terms of pace and true express bowlers. Especially the first two. We have never seen such pace earlier. Mosher 1

But I must also add that after his return from 2nd injury in late 2023, Bumrah has bowled genuine fast only in 6 matches of the World Cup, the 2 tests in SA and the 3rd test vs England. Has been Fast-medium in the other games. He is saving his quickest only for the big games nowadays. And we are likely to see this going forward. If pace ceiling of a bowler is 150+, he can bowl more regularly around 145 kph. And then the kind of run-up and action Bumrah has, he was always going to struggle maintaining high pace for long periods. Suhaan 1

If we want pacers who can bowl 145 k+ in almost every over then we must look for quicks who can cross 152 k in every series. Pacers like Bumrah, Cummins, Rabada, Shami can bowl 140 k+ anytime they want to but 145 k+ happens only in quicker spells and in case of Shami his cap was around 146 k anyway. Suhaan and Mosher 2
