SRH can try this batting order - push warner at 3

  1. Abhishek sharma
  2. Bairstrow
  3. Warner
  4. Williamson
  5. Samad
  6. Virat singh
  7. Jadhav/Shankar/Sucithh

  • Why abhishek at open ?? Coz he is very good at PP and is a high quality batsman
  • Why warner at 3?? coz someone will have to and warner has been getting beaten against pace from last 1-2 yrs. Archer has number on him, Rabada did it to him last IPL, Even against prasidh he looked hurried on. Avg bowlers wont trouble him but someone with pace can shake him now. So just go to 3 and anyways he can bat in any gear. This will keep left right hand combination going
  • Put samad up and ask him to beat the crap out of spinners

Now this lineup gives one problem 5th good bowling option- Samad and abhishek together is going to be extremely risky , even adding jadhav wont be enough

Solution-

  • Suchitch
  • Holder instead of williamson
  • Shankar but then he cant bat below 5

Here is my idea

Warner

Pandey (let him find some gaps and get set in powerplay. He is better that way than rotating strike.

Shankar (did well in Nzl at 3. He can’t be a later order slogger)

Bairstow (WK) (His future batting position in T20)

Jadhav

Holder/Nabi (rotate them based on matchups)

Samad
Rashid
Bhuvi

Sandeep

Natarajan

That gives SRH 8 bowling options. Strategy should be manage bowling, keeping opposition below 160 and chase or vice versa.

Abhishek can be brought in as a back up for Samad/Shankar

Saha can be a backup for Bairstow as keeper so will push Saha up and bring Williamson in the middle order.

SRH is a smart team. If managed properly they can go far. On 220 type pitches they will be toast though.

Not bad, not bad.....Achaar men se dimaag nikal liya. Good i really like this order as well

  • Pandey made his 1st IPL 100 at opening
  • Shankar did well at 3 in NZ and can clear circle easily, once set he can hit big ones

issues that still concern me

  • Shankar n manish are still stuck together , even though last yr they had a very good partnership but still
  • Once pitches start wearing 2nd down in 2nd half, im still concerned about bairstrow at 4
  • Samad is still getting wasted
  • Holder not meant to be pushed to down
  • it still isnt a 200+ side

They need to drop the 2nd foreign bowling option.

Get Bairstow, Warner and Williamson in.

SRH Indian bowling is pretty good

I would even drop Rashid Khan, strengthen their batting with Roy, Williamson, Bairstow, Warner etc. They can fill their bowling with only indian options. They will do well without Rashid. Probably concede an extra 10-20 runs , but their batting more than makes up for it.

This would be my playing XI for SRH,

Warner

Bairstow

Abhishek

Shankar

Williamson

Roy

Samad

Suchith/Shahbaaz Nadeem

Bhuvi

Khaleel/Sandeep Sharma

Natarajan

3 and 4 can be interchanged depending on situation. They have batting till 8. Their batting order is strengthened. Bowling becomes slightly weaker without Rashid but the extra 10-20 runs conceded can be made up with the strengthened batting.
