May 1st - vaccination for all opens in India - registration from 28th April

Have already vaccinated ( First Dose ) . Our company ran a vaccination drive a couple of days ago. Covishield was the vaccine. Now, need to vaccinate my family members too. Hope that the cowin site can withstand the bandwidth pressure today

Site's working, however all centers in my district & surrounding ones are blocked for age 45+ currently

SII - 100 million from May, more than that with the grant. Post ramp up 2.3 billion per year possible. 

 

Sputnik V - 850 million per year beginning in June. 

 

Bio E - 600 million potentially post approval of J&J

 

Bharat Biotech - 12.5 million per month, can produce 1 billion per year intranasal vaccine from June if approved

 

"Cumulatively, Indian vaccine manufacturers, including SII, Bharat Biotech, Panacea Biotech, Sanofis Shanta Biotech, Biological E, Hester Biosciences and Zydus Cadila, have an installed capacity to manufacture 8.2 billion doses of different vaccines per year. If required, this capacity can be tweaked to manufacture COVID-19 vaccines. Besides vaccinating every citizen of the country, it can be used to supply vaccines to other countries of the world."

 

 

I don't think speedy trials are the primary requirement any more, its all about how fast SII, Bharat Biotech, Bio E and the Sputnik producers can ramp up with raw materials etc, there will not be a money shortage post this phase. That and logistics of distribution, storage & inoculation on the ground.

I am a bit surprised by the celebrations of successful vaccine roll-outs here.  Just a few weeks ago, most people with whom I was communicating in India (and many here on ICF) were sceptical of vaccine success.  There were laments that the vaccines were, at best ineffective, and at worst causing the increase in case numbers (and deaths) not only in India but other nations like Seychelles, Gibraltar etc.  Are there any good data from India that dispute these claims and show that the vaccines are safe and effective?
