She posts the above.

In sheer apathy and ignorance of the suffering below.

When the lady in the video below kept saying "Balaji", that just broke me.

Again, not against anyone going on holiday. But is now really the time and place to post your happy holiday throwbacks? Can't it wait a week or two?

^ Shobha De said something similar.

Another way to look at it: Their followers and those who visit their IG pages do not see this as a rubbing it in. A general look at the comments would show you that people by and large are appreciative/ have positive things to say.

Someone wants to live their life and is willing to travel keeping all travel restrictions in mind, so whats the issue?

Where is the insensitivity?

You dont find this insensitive? They should be spending that money helping poor people in India. These folks have no shame.

To me this is a prime example of being tone deaf. If there is so much suffering around you and you think it is ok to go on vacation. I find this attitude reprehensible.

These celebrities are in a position where, what they say and do, it gets amplified.

If they use a particular product, their followers want to use the same product.

If they wear a particular dress, their followers want to wear the same dress.

If they think it's OK to post holiday snaps when doctors, yes doctors can't find beds in the very hospitals they work in, they really need to get their heads checked.

Besharam behaviour. All these for some stupid likes and followers.

I was in Europe around the same time when there were raging bushfires back home. The devastation caused by the bushfires to communities, lives and livelihoods was insurmountable.

I was warned by Missus EnterTheVoid about posting holiday snaps to my social media handles. When I couldn't help myself and posted the pictures anyway (only a handful mind you, 5 - 10 max), I got my arse kicked. And got a tongue lashing that I'll never forget in this lifetime. Or the next 10 lifetimes after.

I learnt my lesson all right.

And than flaunting it on social media.

Is there anything more tone deaf and out of touch?

Not telling them not to holiday. But FFS, respect the sombre mood the nation is currently in.

Oh you mean you haven't ever met/seen any ultra rich/powerful before the pandemic :nevermind:

The word you're looking for is probably self obsessed & that applies to all of them!

No I don't.

If people thought it were insensitive, they would not visit those IG pages.

Not my place to comment on how someone else should spend ( or launder in such cases) their pelf.

My value system is totally differnt than yours. No need to flaunt that you are better than others.

Borrowing Batman phrase you end up with people you deserve not what you need.

I don't go to their IG pages.

Their IG shenanigans show up on my feed when I try to read COVID related news.

And this is not just on NDTV, it's on all the major news outlets.

That is because it sells. As a news paper you want ad revenue. Which is mainly a function of footfall on your website. News walas know this sells.

The 'stars' know it sells too.

As a society we are consumers of this content. We can't consume it *and* blame the creator.

Reminds me of my sister. Good that she doesn't read these pages. She used to gorge on the mutton samosas my mom made and used to complain that my mom is making her fat. That is an incoherent stand.

Err. I am not flaunting anything.

Why is my value system any different? I agree that they *can* help and that is the good thing to do.

I don't agree that they *must*. They are under no obligation to.

Apologize if by flaunting it reffered to you. I was talking about the celebrities definitely not you. You come across as an extremely intelligent person who I respect. am tired of them showing their vacation pictures and eating the stuff they do.  If I am getting by with dal chawal everyday dont show me the biryani you are eating.

No they are under no obligation to do it but in my value system if you dont show empathy for your fellow being I think less of you. I come from a blue collar background and i only identify with that. Growing up I only played cricket with one pad.
