PS talking about songs, I used to listen to Priyamaanavale's songs in my car  ... Other album was Kandukondain Kandukondain (had to google the spelling) ... I even had a lot of Middle Eastern music

I tend explore most kinds of films and music

Nayagan is not my kind of a repeat movie but I the music has definitely not aged even today. However the only song I remember for Dayawan was the boat song copied from original and another song which I don’t remember but remember the visuals due to a make out scene with Madhuri :p:

Clearly at least Nayagan wins in 1 of the 24 krafts in film making.

Music of Nayakan could be good. I do not recall the songs much like you except this song on the boat  ... and I can't watch Dayavan too even for that Madhuri scene

I like the fusion of classical with modern in music ... and South Indian music used to have that (as I am aware of the lastest) ... The song below I like for what the chorus sings (even though I do not understand the lyrics):

RDB just takes the easy way out by resorting to vigilante justice rather than focus on bringing about a social change.

Fighting corruption the right way within the existing legal framework is probably not as sexy as taking law into your own hands.

I expect that from the regular run-of-the-mill popcorn flick but a film like this that seems to be about social reform resorting to silly vigilantism is just lazy writing IMO. I'd rather watch a Lage Raho Munnabhai or Jolly LLB. I consider RDB to be similar to any other masala flick where the protagonist resorts to vigilantism as a means of retribution.

To draw parallels with “non-masala”Hollywood films (in its context), there have been films like Taxi Driver and Joker, which go the vigilante way

As for RDB, the fate of the key characters was always going to be similar to freedom fighters they played in the documentary in the film. Much like how the freedom fighters did not beat the British but created a spark, these characters do that too. They provide a exposition of their actions in the radio station sequence. The spark is shown through the reactions of those following the event. The film ends on the note that they served as the fulcrum to set the ball rolling for a change (where ppl focus on making the country better by taking responsibilities rather than focusing on their self centred goals which the characters did too before)

All this revolution, change and not believing in a democratic society is textbook naxal yam and anarchist. Maybe it worked in 2004, but it has not aged well in changing political structure of the world. It will be seen as a JNU type protest movie now and would be cancelled by word of mouth or in SM. A lot has changed in 17 years

I understand you do not like it because a BJP like party is shown in it  … It cannot be like if a Congress like party is shown, the movie is good. If not, … … Come on, move on and enjoy the film

Movies do not age based on subject matter but their presentation. For e.g. Naya Daur has a bullock cart v bus race … Schindler’s List shows Jews in the concentration camp in Germany (which is not going to happen again) … the story of Ind’s freedom struggle will never be old … nor will corruption … and so on

No, I don’t care about BJP or Congress, I am anti-left, hate their politics world over. Naya Daur like socialism won’t work now. But at least he defeated the motor gaadi, not burn it in the name of revolution like RDB guys did.

why be anti anything? On some topics, you may need right; on some, center; on some, left

All subject matters are good in their own way! It is the presentation that makes the difference. Joker can be made like it was or like those suicide squad films

Revisited Naya Daur. Remains fascinating and unique. Dilip Kumar in a village environment is always interesting to watch! … It is good that it was redone in color as the print would have been worked on too

overrated movie. Had great music and a couple of good performances. The story was crap. Are we supposed to believe Amir Khan who looks like a 40 year old jobless chichora, Eve teasing girls and getting drunk with friends all of a sudden develops patriotism and morphs into Bhagat Singh?

May be the message should be he would change his life by getting a job and paying taxes.
