Cricket will never die in England, this Englishmen don't enjoy cricket is a myth. Football is only 2nd to Cricket in India, but you go to a Kerala Blasters match and you would see a sea of yellow. Every sport will have its own followers, though Cricket might never reach the magnitude of Football in England, but it will always continue to attract crowds, especially the T20 format and the Ashes.

 

England has been the only country in the past decade or so who has debuted some phenomenal players. Look at Livingstone for an example, that guy is the future of Cricket in England. England will continue to churn out cricketers and will always be among top 3 sides in the World.

Nope I Think with English team doing so wellthey have reasons to cheer for them, it's natural during the aussie invincible team there used to be humongous aussie crowds as well. This is nice to see.

They were never top3 till 2010 since 80s.

The World cup win & that Ashes series helped as well.  T20 cricket has attracted few of younger generation as well & the kind of Cricket they play. 

However we need to wait as live events were not happening last year...  And Summer is at its peak right now.

All the talk about Cricket dying in England always amazes me. Every summer when the Cricket season starts in England, you switch on the TV to notice that all the matches are jam packed. No matter whether the opposition is West Indies or Australia, the matches are always full house. I wonder if the Sport is dying then from where are so many people coming over to attend the matches year after year ? 

 

Stokes, Morgan and Butler earn over a Million pounds playing for England alone.. What kind of dying sport offers that kind of money to it's players ? 

 

Compare Cricket in England to a dying Sport like Hockey in India. Does anyone care  or keeps a track about when Indian Hockey team plays it's matches or people going in large numbers to attend their matches in stadiums or their earnings compared to English Cricketers ? 

 

I think what a lot of  people do is compare the popularity of Cricket in England with Football in England/Cricket in India and since there is no contest between the two, it is assumed that Cricket is as good as non-existent. 

 

Few days ago I checked the livestream of Vitality T20 Blast matches where most of the players are local English, and even there some decent crowds were attending the match. 

 

This year we have the Ashes and again the Aussies and English fans would flock to stadiums to attend their teams. The players are earning good money, matches are often played in front of  full house, Sport is organized in a very professional way... What more can the English  Cricketers ask for ?

yes you're right, people always compare cricket with football in england and you see one completely dwarfing the other it makes people think cricket is dying

I visited my cricket club in Scotland for first time  due to relocation in 7 years at the weekend , the number of spectators was much more than I have seen at Ranji Trophy games in India .

Scotland Head Coach announced on Friday an  initial squad of 40 players for T20WC and depending on performances until September any of them can make the final squad , never in its history could Scotland pick 40 players and any could be picked . 

it's not just England thriving but also Ireland and Scotland too .
