I have seen a trend here on ICF, posters really hate the all successful, superstars who gave it all and are now reaping benefits of their sweat.

While moderately successful  , or  talented people with a questionable work ethic are loved beyond all measures, just shows the general attitude and insecurity. Maybe it's just a defense mechanism.

ICF?

Have you seen how much hate Ambani Adani get in country?

There's nothing shameless about this, it was just a light hearted post, nothing to get your knickers in a twist.

Did @Mariyam get a new ID :hatsoff:

Guys don't make fun of bollywodaiyas for @Mariyam's sake. It hurts her heart :(( Don't tell her that bolywoood has descended into this.

Why would you call it a 'descent'?

Good to see that SRK and his protege take challenging and difficult characters (albeit caricature like) in front of a crowd. That means no retakes!

A guy goes from Chaiwala to be the PM of the worlds largest democracy in a society where there is a status quo and dynastic politics.

Let me ask you this:

Has your school or housing society before/after  flag hoisting back in India or cable wala never played patriotic filmi songs on loop on Independence day/Republic day?

Do you see something wrong with that?

It has a methaphorical association to patriotism. And one that we readily accept.

What is so different here?

To most people in the world, its descent. Only to "modern" people, its "challenging" and "difficult".

In flag hoisting events, we play jana gana mana or vande maataram not sunny deol songs from border. Even if it happens, its an addendum not a main event. admit it shawrook is a self promoter par excellence

I sincerely doubt he was a chaiwala anywhere. it just looks like a movie script of someone poor going high. and you know scripts better than I do :winky:

I said before/after the flag hoisting.

Not during. And yes, people play Border songs. Mere desh ki dharti sona ugle. Chak de India. And many many Bollywood patriotic songs.

I don't see anything wrong in self promotion. Lobbying is a democratic right in our country. However, this tweet had nothing to do with it.

Not everything is binary

I don’t think I have a problem with any kind of  music because music is symbolic of celebration. Unless of course when It is little kids dancing/singing songs that have inappropriate content or  questionable lyrics. I do get irritated with the use of popular film songs etc in wedding videos (including my own :wall:) but it is what it is. That’s part of our culture.

Now on the flip side.I do have a problem when a kid dresses up as Sunny Deol from Gadar on an Independence Day fancy dress show instead of Gandhi/Nehru/Bose etc.

If I may, which one was it?

And what about your sangeet? What did you dance on?

Unless  there a conspiracy that Modi is from a royal family and was raised secretively to take over India one day, I have no doubt that he comes from humble beginnings, may be he wasn’t just a chaiwala or that’s just a convenient occupation/tag attached to his early life but I do believe he is from a lower-middle class family. That still makes his rise incredible. Let me know if you think otherwise.

We seem to have differing views here if you don't see anything wrong in self promotion in this case. Lobbying is just a fancy word for gaining an advantage. It may be legal but unethical. Even in the case of playing filmi songs, its an addendum. Does not apply in this case where shawrook promoted himself as an ex coach. Good reply from the real coach. Can Marijne go to award ceremony and collect awards for baazigar and kkhh. You defending this behavior is just

He may have but its unlikely that he doesn't have "what it takes" to succeed in politics.

Edit: Even KK and many politicians have humble beginnings. That didn't stop them from doing their "business"

south weddings are boring :(( and my family is uber traditional. We let the videographer do his magic by adding effects and music in the video which is usually whatever is the flavor of the season or the usual wedding songs from movies :laugh1:

Also I havent watched my wedding video  completely till date. My family was sitting around watching it and having a great time and I excused myself and walked out of boredom :)

yes and nothing but respect for Karunanidhi too for what he achieved. In fact Deve Gowda who most of us grew up thinking was a buffoon because of images of him always sleeping was actually a pretty popular leader for the framers and did a lot for them.

However Modi is a league above. To become a PM and create the kind or hysteria he did it on a National scale it is a different level of accomplishment.

Anyway why are we arguing about this?
