even worse we have no capable replacements on the horizon,they should have been looking for them but these oldies have played for so long BCCI has neglected backups for the middle order completely.

I think all of them are done.No point in carrying them any longer.Kohli can be given littler longer leash but other two are done.

Problem is not them. They will obviously keep playing as they want to maximize their playing days. Problem is with the selectors. All 3 of them should be dropped immediately. But no, selectors are meek mice who cannot challenge any experienced player. They are only good at dropping newbies when they see one bad performance. Useless seniors are persisted with endlessly.

 

Also, another bigger problem is that no former cricketer is calling for their sacking. Why aren't people like Gavaskar who are so vocal on TV channels calling out for these players to be dropped?? He is the first to criticize when someone like Pant makes a mistake and he is pretty hard in his criticism of young players. But when experienced players keep failing, he and others will keep saying that they are just one innings away from rediscovering their form. God only knows when that one innings will arrive and how many Tests do we sacrifice for that one innings.

You can have one weak link in batting lineup but having all three main guys in five batsmen lineup is killing this team.Last three years we have seen the most inept batting ever.

Shaw/Gill in MO for kohli.

We have at least 2 candidates for each of top 5. Just need to choose wisely based on conditions:

 

Agarwal/Shaw (other options: Gaikwad/Easwaran/old man Panchal)

Rohit/one of the above listed

KLR/Vihari (KLR is better suited to middle order IMO)

Iyer/Gill

Sarfaraz/Sundar
