Vadapav is no match for Hot idli with allam / peanut / moong dal chutney. 

Used to be my go to breakfast after the night shift in TCS Synergy Park.

Ah!, yeah you went to extreme. It does have a flavour but it takes time to adjust to the taste, definitely not the right dish to be introduced straight away.

Perhaps not many Mumbaites on this forum, maybe thats why people are just aware about only Vadapav.

 

We need more born and bought up Mumbaites on this forum for supporting Mumbai Indians as well, a franchisee which has won 13 franchisee tournaments.

For the first time ever, I had Idli Podi last week and loved it. Had it the very next day. 

Rasam Idli was nice, the rasam seemed authentic although i had it for the first time as well and so wont be the correct person to guve factful review whether it was oruginal to how its prepared in south. Still it did seem that genuine and different tasty spices were used ratger than the regular Everest, MDH, Badshah masala.

Almost Dry red Chatni spread on Idli  but different taste. Is Thatte Idli podi different. It was not in the menu list though.

Idli + podi (called gunpowder elsewhere) + neyyi (ghee) is something else.

 

That's the way I like to eat my idlis.

Thanks for the information.

 

That red colored chatni was indeed powder like but it was not totally dry.  Will check if they do  serve with neyyi (ghee) and give it a try.

That podi is actually "kara podi".

 

Just a spicy powder and not a chutney, per se.

Great post.  are the best T20 side in the world.

 

Not only Mumbai residents but even others are welcome to support it and learn. The smarter ones like @Stan AF already do.

 

Mumbai has the best batsmen, best bowlers, best fielders, best umpires, best Ambani and best fans. Although the last one is mainly because of me.

Try sesame oil instead of ghee, even tastier.

And everybody does it differently. Molaga podi, Idli podi, khaara pudi - all variations on the same theme. 

 

Molaga podi neyy idli wrapped in vaazhai elai (banana leaves) was the ultimate travel food from my childhood. I'd wait for my grandma to want to go to the bathroom so we would stop and they would open the packets.

Thatte idli in ..... Hyderabad? That, right there, is the problem.  Thatte idlies should only be consumed in Kyatsandra, Tumkur and perhaps Bidadi ;-)

[am not much of a food snob, but couldn't resist the jab]

 

The problem with ghee roast is that many places seem to overdo the ghee.

Misal Pav and Kadhi Vada for breakfast on old Pune-Nashik highway (Narayangaon) is heaven on earth.
