In SENA, for a top order Indian batsman, playing with India losing early wkts, that is pretty good. More over Pujara redeemed himself big time with the series in Aus, helping India win for the first time there in its history. Followed it up with a fighting performance in the last series in Aus.

 

Last time in Eng, he hit an unbeaten 100. This time, he helped Ind win a test and scored a 91, a lone warrior knock. 
 

So even a Pujara at 50% has been impactful. See the numbers for 2021 in SENA v Aus and Eng. (I am on vacation in the Rocky Mountains to post numbers over my cell. It must be ob this thread too)

 

 

That theory was exposed in this series. #3 flopped even with old ball when openers scored big. 

 

No team has luxury of having openers being top scorer in a series like India has in this series.

We know that in the series, he has helped Ind win a test and also scored a 91, a lone warrior effort (the thread itself is on that). It is the guys in form like Rohit, KL, Pant and Jadeja (from series in Ind and other formats including IPL), who are not stepping up. We know what guys like Pujara and Kohli have done over the years when in their best form.

 

In the 4th test so far, Rohit 11, KL 17, and Jadeja 10. These guys are hardly making the most of their form!

It depends upon how you bat during a passage of play.  Ind was 18/1 when Pujara came in and departed at 155/4. If not for likes of Pujara, Ind could have been bundled out.

That is what “impact” knocks are, helping teams win. Standing tall when it counts. Lone warrior in 2nd innings in the last test too

 

Look at the series and the game here - Rohit 11, KL 17, and Jadeja 10   … 3 batsmen in supposedly good form scoring less than 40 among them … if these guys are Ind’s batsmen in form, God help Ind

If not for the likes of Pujara, promising youngsters would be playing. Stop defending the relic - he played some good knocks and served India well. Overstaying your welcome never did anyone any good.

Dravid scored 4 centuries in Eng 2011 and retired after a dismal Aus tour in 2011-12.. these 3,4,5  paandus will use all their clout to hang in as long as possible

Pujara is 33. Dravid did not retire at 33. Would have been nice if retired in 2007/8 after the dismal SL series and ODI WC

when pujara was in so called good form last time he avg 39 

Rohit is 39 , KL 42

Tu to mat hi bol 

 

When KL was struggling to get runs last tour he scored a 149 on his 1st eng tour 

Pujara on his 1st england tour , his best was 55 

 

KL has 2-100s in eng

Pujara still 1

only failures dnt ,most batsman have struggled in WI coz its not an easy place to score with underrated attack n duke

That's because Dravid>>>>>>>Pujara. Even at 38, he scored 3 centuries in a 4 test series and he opened in most of the ocassions. Pujara hasn't done anything of late since the Aus tour in 18/19

When pujara scored everyone also performed so when team performs we win

 

When kohli piled on runs pujara n others went missing.

I know Dravid fanboys like to write against Pujara, who is actually the most impactful test batsman for Ind since 1990. See is performances in India over the decades, in SL, in Aus. 
 

Dravid benefitted from playing with a relatively strong batting line up. Many times, I saw him hit runs when Sehwag had softened the opposition.

Let me take equal sample of pujara 1st 10

 

Rohit 1st 10 innings eng- 328 runs avg of 36.44

Pujara 1st 10 innings in eng - 222 runs avg of 22.22

Because when Pujara is in good form, he won you a series in Aus. Even a less than 50% Pujara won you a series in Aus second time around
