Rahane’s average only marginally better than Jadeja’s and S/R wayy worse. Not good signs as a batsman when a bowling A/R batting at 7 has had almost the same impact with the bat as you whilst also having big match impact with the ball

why are we comparing these two players. jadeja is not a like-for-like substitute for rahane. the latter should be compared with bumrah and.or siraj in terms of batting.

one is a fixture in the team because of our cultural obsession with handing careers to batsmen. the other can actually turn the match with all three disciplines. but no. let's project our disappointment onto that player and drop him.

jadeja has some value. rahane does not.

It's not a question of who is better between them.   It's a question of who is worse.  And it's Haghane obviously.     But having said that Jaddu should also be dropped.  He adds no value to the team apart from giving record no of no balls each over.

on a more interesting note, as I write this post, thakur's career batting avg is higher than rahane

Rahane is the better batsman. Jadeja is in good form and benefitted from playing selected test matches overseas in favourable conditions. If Jadeja gets an extended run, playing cricket in various conditions and form, his avg would be below 30.

 

Irrespective of current #s, Rahane is more like a 35-40 avg batsman; Irrespective of the hype and current form, Jadeja is more like a 25-30 avg batsman.
