asterix Posted September 11, 2021 Posted September 11, 2021 Everybody in England including me (with all IPL haters in rest of the World) are blaming the cancellation of 5th Test match on Indian players greed & IPL… The Test schedule got elongated because ECB squeezed in The Hundreds in between and there was a gap of 10 days between 2 tests. The test series could’ve completed earlier had not there been this “The Hundreds” and I can’t fathom why it was squeezed in. They could’ve organised it after the Test series. While I’ll continue to criticise BCCI for squeezing in IPL before T20 WC (imagine key players injured or infected) due to IPL and just before T20 WC. Not considering player fatigue after England tour and IPL. ECB need to answer about The Hundreds before ICC decides the fate of the Test Series results…
kepler37b Posted September 11, 2021 Posted September 11, 2021 Well the schedule was an agreement between both boards. Cannot blame only one now.
Majestic Posted September 11, 2021 Posted September 11, 2021 Even without The Hundred, teams don't play 5 tests continuously without a decent gap after 2nd test. Look at India vs England in January for example:- After first two tests, there was a decent gap for the third test which was pink ball test. That is how every 4 test series or 5 test series go. ShoonyaSifar Posted September 11, 2021 Posted September 11, 2021 ECB announced schedule of the summer fixtures in November 2020 (5 tests spread over 6 weeks, in 2018 also it was 5 tests over 6 weeks) Hundred schedule was released in Feb 2021 IPL UAE schedule on 25th July 2021 If anything, IPL was squeezed (and rightfully so, given its importance for BCCI). Lone Wolf Posted September 11, 2021 Posted September 11, 2021 Schedule was announced well before in advance... You can't change Schedule in English summer in a matter of Days. 100 has nothing to do with it honestly. It was pathetic of BCCI earlier to force ECB to cancel the 5th test or ask for an advancement. Everyone is going to protect their interests, why shouldnt BCCI ?

No hard bio bubble, crowds in ground with no mask, minimal restriction. Players are human they dropped their guards, sure, but cant expect them to be all tied up when world around them is acting normal. ECB cant just blame it on bcci or players.
rkt.india Posted September 11, 2021 Posted September 11, 2021 Indian team was there since WTC. Test series started after more than a month. Usual test series start in July but this time it did in August. What was the reason? They already had 100 planned during this time period even if schedule was announced later.
