zen
a) If RR beats MI: MI has struggled at S’jah. If RR beats MI tomorrow, RR v KKR on Thu at the same venue will be a virtual knock out game with the winner going to the playoffs. b) If MI beats RR: The last game of PK, MI and RR would focus on winning with NRR considerations. For some teams, the NRR equation could get ridiculous. In this scenario, If KKR wins its last game, it goes through. If KKR loses its last game, it can still go through on NRR (depending on what the teams, including RR v KKR, which win their last game do with their NRR). zen
While the race for the 4th spot is on, there is a race for 2nd spot as well b/w CSK and RCB. If CSK loses to PK, and RCB wins against SRH and DC, RCB would end up in the top 2. Indian Premier League TEAM M W L PT NRR DC 13 10 3 20 0.526 CSK 13 9 4 18 0.739 RCB 12 8 4 16 -0.157 KKR 13 6 7 12 0.294 PBKS 13 5 8 10 -0.241 RR 12 5 7 10 -0.337 MI 12 5 7 10 -0.453 SRH 12 2 10 4 -0.475 Edited October 4, 2021 by zen

If RR beats KKR badly like today, they can closely lose and still qualify , unless PBKS beats CSK badly. It’s all so mind boggling. In all likelihood , KKR beats RR closely and MI then knows how much to win by , as they play last. Edited October 6, 2021 by coffee_rules
Majestic
We can sit and make 100 of calculations but reality is that KKR will go through to the playoffs. This is just not the year for Mumbai Indians. Chakdephatte

Bat second or first that is. Will do some cross check tomorrow, but MM has been the Stats Guru for the last 30 years or as long as I have followed him. Can’t doubt he will miss it that easily Edited October 6, 2021 by coffee_rules
