This year it was a month later to accomodate the hundred. The Eng-NZ series happened before WTC final too raki05 1

Also hahane and karthik scored zilch chasing.. it was in our bag that match in 2018. We lost by mere 31 runs. Ashwin played really well it was a batting failure. 194 was easy on that pitch

Keep the excuses for those who want to buy those … Rohit and Kohli actually fought BCCI’s decision to play the test The test as expected is on … Let’s hope Rohit and Kohli have the sense to not play any games against whatever hegemony countries you are referring to. Ind does not need such a culture Edited October 22, 2021 by zen
neel roy Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 Nz beat the pulp of England this year similar time. If we play well we can win or at least draw
R!TTER Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 (edited) No the selfishness emanating from the fact that Eng hosted NZ in a last minute scheduled test series outside WTC, then hosting SL, Pak & Ind besides the Hundred in what was clearly a money grab (heist?) of sorts! The bubble or no bubble breach during the 4th test was clearly on ECB as well, FFS their CEO was attending the book event! India was well within their rights to withdraw from the last test, of course Eng could've avoided that drama had they accepted India's demands to bring forth the Old Trafford test - but no they had host half the test playing nations playing cricket at the time & now must also get a chance to claw back the series in what really is a one off test! Can you tell me why ECB's business interests should trump other fans' interests in the outcome of this series? Yes I definitely do not consider the test series won, by India, but I also know this could've been avoided had ECB been less greedy - you could argue less greedy than BCCI. Don't forget the 10-day break after test2 to schedule their flagship The Hundred circus , they could have finished the series in the allotted time before the 4th test covid fiasco

Can you tell me what schedule was announced last year? AFAIK the schedule was fixed this year post Covid outbreak, I also don't recall when the the LO series, against SL & Pak, were announced but they were finalized likely around the same time. How would you feel if IPL started in the middle of an Indian test series? Having the Hundred or really any of the other test/LO series push the Ind/Eng series towards late summer is definitely not a good look for Indian fans. That first test may have produced a good result if it wasn't rained off, a week or two earlier would there have been any rain interruptions? Edited October 22, 2021 by R!TTER

The 5th test getting abandoned was a case of mainly a couple of players working against BCCI and Indian interests. After that move, there were only two possible outcomes - a forfeiture or a reschedule, both not ideal from an Indian POV. Because these two players have a large fan base, there are attempt to turn it into they v us (when it is the players v Ind’s interest). Foolish to think that the world is naive to buy those excuses.

ECB and BCCI are not clean as a whistle. Ideally, even the 4th test should have been put off with the whole coaching staff under quarantine. Players obliged as a favor to BCCI. Next, when the physio was impacted who was in close contact with all the players, BCCI agreed to play the test under ECB pressure without consulting the players. The players put the two boards in place. BCCI had its pressures of IPL, so bent down to the players demands.

Both parties are at fault. Advantage England specially if Andu is still there Was the one month gap between the WTC final and the Eng series the result of a postponement to accommodate the Hundred?
R!TTER Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 (edited) Well the point is a single test played next year doesn't constitute as a part (of) this series, call it one off test or play a two test series - it really doesn't matter! For me as well as many others the series is over, we can argue ad nauseum whether it was 2-1 to India or 2-2 but the test series is done & dusted. Edited October 22, 2021 by R!TTER

This is a case of BCCI and India being held hostage by some players (mainly Rohit and Kohli). It is high time that ppl accept that these players worked against Indian interest.

BCCI is not India. Players are employees or under contract with BCCI. SC of India has accepted this. It is an autonomous body of the ICC corporation, with no administration control from the Govt. CoA was a temporary Judiciary decision based on some allegations of corruption. Players represent BCCI and not India, the country. It is the players health and safety that comes first , beyond company interests. If I refuse to go to work under Covid conditions, my company cannot force me. Instead, it makes arragements to WFH. For players on Ground zero, there is no such option. kohli 1

Couple of things - any dates announced during the height of Covid had massive asterisks on them, definitely subject to a lot of conditions. These dates were not final back then. I'll check if I can find the Hundred & LO series (SL/Pak) dates to see if they were also announced a lot later.
