Lone Wolf Posted December 6, 2021 Author Posted December 6, 2021 29 minutes ago, Jay said: you think peak rabada prior to injury was better than bumrha 2018? i dont think so. Sure you could say smith dint play in that 2018 series but the way he bowled with that nagging length, pace, bounce, variation was exemplary. I do agree rabada is a once a generation level talent. So is booms. Cummins too. What i saw of bumrah that year was better than rabada's peak between 2014-2016. Each to their own though. Rabada peaked too early. Now post injury, its going to be hard for him to get that level however he will still be a top bowler for obvious reasons. He is a quality bowler. infact he is an ATG. He averaged 50 in india before but after the recent series in 2019 vs india away he has managed to reduce his average to 40. So clearly he has gotten better in asia too. Rabada the 21 -24 year old is better than any we have seen in this generation. Bumrah used to play limited overs cricket at this age. Cummins was injured & on rehab. There was no Archer or anyone else. Rabada was just a freak that we probably won't see in new age. Fast bowlers these days peak at 27-28 years of age but he was best in the world at 22.
express bowling Posted December 6, 2021 Posted December 6, 2021 Both Jamieson and Axar are likely to end up being condition dependant bowlers. Jamieson needs swing friendly conditions and Axar needs turning tracks to be the beasts that they are. We saw how Jamieson lost all his sting with the ball not swinging in Mumbai. Even though the track offered some bounce and seam movement. Vijy and Sgattick10 2

Jammu is still a quality bowler but yes he is condition dependent. His bounce alone should be useful in most places. Problem in Asia is weather. White people just can't get accustomed to the heat in India. It's just too much. Humidity etc is a killer. It affects the stamina. That's why janmmu can't be effective. He looked visibly tired after first test. Imagine a 4 test series.

Rabada is still only 27 lol. Incredible. Does he have a second peak or he peaked too early? Some people peak early and falter.

He is still young only 26 in fact. 213 test wickets. He was top draw until 200 test wickets lol... That milestone perhaps is a curse on him. Olivier was it his peak 2-3 years ago vs Pakistan. He is back from Kolpak... Although I see Saffers doing us a favor & dropping him for Ngidi in Centurion test... Quota reason.

Bro we have been giving free quotas for years so I couldn't care less about one quota boy getting through for saffers. Btw ngidi is just as dangerous on those pitches. He destroyed us in the 2nd test back in 2018. We have 3 quota players already. Rahane pubara and possibly kohli. In 2018 we had kohli selection bias quota. Murali vijay dhawan rofl for first test. When puji and rahane were actually decent at the time he drops them. 1st test. Could t *ig chase 200. Disgusting performance. 2) test 2. Rahul out of form and gets picked as opener. Vijay and parthiv Patel lol. Edited December 6, 2021 by Jay

He is a clever bowler. I expect him to have a decent career.
cricketfan28 Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 jamieson will become a good allrounder , axar probably not.

He is such a class player. He seems way better than any other bowler with the old ball strangely. The bumrah I saw vs England last time, now that is the best bowler in the world. I would put them on par. Cummins has a lot to prove in India. He did do well in England last time. India and Asia will be bis true test. Jammu is a beast but clearly he is more suited for swing friendly conditions. I am looking forward to seeing him bowl in s Africa. Olivier is scary in s Africa right now. Rabada has sort of declined. Imo rabada is a complete bowler but he has regressed a bit. Also let's not forget siraj shall we. He is up there with the best. Not much to choose from between siraj and jammu as an all conditions bowler. Siraj is already ahead of rabada now. He can lead a side alone. Even Bumrah has a lot to prove in India

vvvslaxman Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 Axar patel requires natural variation offered by pitch. He has no magic tricks or anything. He is like Jadeja except he is a bit taller so he probably will do better in Australia. They don't have doosra, carrom ball or turning ability on table top like Warne/Murali. Sure they can nail batsman who are weak against spin anywhere. On the other hand Jamieson can easily adapt himself. A fast bowler has more variety at his disposal. Vijy 1

New ball offers swing in most places. His enemy will be his fitness. He looked like he was devoid of energy in Wankhede. He couldn't handle the heat and back to back Test. He was not used even against tail much. 12 out of 109. 8 out of 70 overs.
Lord Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 Akshar will have better numbers because hes unlikely to play overseas anytime soon. More interested in LOIs. Akshar if he improves batting against pace can be very vital express bowling and Vijy 2

Adamant Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 Jamieson did well on Kanpur track and was able to limit the scoring in second test, that's how tall medium pacers operate in Asian conditions. He looks like someone who will end up as an atg. Even Mcgrath didn't pick wickets in a bunch in India.

No point in comparing Jamieson yet to the ATG McG. let's see how jamie-boy does in pakistan/UAE as well.

Many people just think Mcgrath as this Metronomic bowler (which is true to large extent) who relies on channel bowling. It is not true. He can reverse the ball too. He can also bowl a mean yorker. vvvslaxman Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 Look at this ball from Pigeon. Peach. Pakistan umpire lol
