I remember thinking at that time that he could hit 155-156 kph as peak speed when he was in early or mid 20s. sadly, that will probably not come to pass given how his career has nosedived after injuries. He lacks the physique. Will remain a 140-145k bowler. Link to comment

He hasn't had any serious injury in last two years. He is one of the most natural genuine quick we have ever produced, so, he will hit 140+ even on his bad days. Bowlers hitting 145+ at 18 are a rare commodity and he is still just 22ish. Edited January 24, 2022 by rkt.india raki05 and f20143g70 2 Link to comment

express bowling
In the days of rare speed gun usage ( till 1998 ) pacers used to be classified as Fast Bowlers and Swing Bowlers, based on their bowling styles, hurrying abity and hostility.  Fast Bowlers were those who used to hit the deck hard and got bounce when needed and / or got a lot of zip off the deck and made the balls fly.  Swing bowlers were those who just released the ball and were floaty in nature. Could not make the ball fly or could not get steep bounce.  Hangargekar is a Fast Bowler by this definition. ( So are Senior team pacers like Bumrah, Shami, Siraj, Prasidh, Umesh or upcoming pacers like Umran or Tyagi. )  While Ravi Kumar is NOT a Fast Bowler yet.  Speed Gun readings may or may not be correct, but irrespective of exact release speeds, it is the hurrying ability and hostility, derived from zip off the deck and bounce, which matters the most.   Edited January 24, 2022 by express bowling Mosher, sarchasm, SRT100 and 1 other 1 3 Link to comment

It's just common sense. Both looks far apart in pace. Link to comment

It's just common sense. Both looks far apart in pace.   Which is why, increasingly, I am thinking of following the OLD style of pace bowler classification.  In Senior cricket yesterday, Prasidh clocked just 132 k to 142 k  ... but the zip and steep bounce he got, and the hostility he produced, was way more than many 138 k to 148 k spells by many other pacers.  The zip, the flying ball and the bounce is what we should start following. Hangargekar ticks all those boxes. And the only pacer to do so in this U19 batch.  Mosher and Vijy 2 Link to comment

Bawa came up against Uganda, there we used to these things against sides like SL,SA,Pak by promoting Pathan,Dhoni, Yuvraj this is how their game awareness was built, fine tuning their batting was taken care of using these tactics On topic,But Hangarekar has only got opportunity down the order, honestly didn't see Bawa bat ,maybe he was little more technical Hangerakar comes across a good hitter who we need at 7/8 ABDfan and Vijy 1 1 Link to comment
