How can you ignore Harshal after the kind of form he's had first in IPL (in both India and UAE) and now in the chances he's got?

He hasn't had no opportunities to bat but as he opens for his state in domestic T20s and does a good job as a hitter, I'd say we should play him in ODIs as well. He's himself a proper swing and seam bowler in FC cricket, but bowls the cutters in T20s as an adjustment. Bumrah has been off boil in LOIs for quite sometime, should not be a certainty unless he gets his rhythm back.

From having one dimensional players just a few months back, we now have options of playing a batting all rounder V. Iyer and bowling all rounders Shardul, Deepak and Harshal. 3 of them should be in our LOI team regularly given the top order * ups we have regularly had in key games. It'll ease a lot of pressure on the middle order

Don't want too many slower ball bowlers / swing bowlers, especially in Australia.

Need atleast 2 proper pacers.

6. Jadeja

7. Deepak

8. Washington / Axar

9. Bishnoi

10. Bumrah

11. Siraj

This will cover all bases in T20s.

Thats beautiful 6-11.

Position 7 is debatable IMO and can be taken up a superior pace bowler to go with Bumrah and Siraj.

Can Prasidh push his way into 7, I hope so.

I like Jaddu, Wash, Bish as our spinners.

Variations should involve a like for like.

It really is up to the batsmen to do their job and set scores and chase scores well. They should be held accountable if none of them can bowl.

Viyer is going to be crucial. Needs to bowl 2-4 overs every match, regardless of position India is in until the WC. He needs international practice.

100% agree.

Slow bowlers in Australia will be sending the ball all the way back to India.

Definitely No.

IMO this works in ODIs, not in T20Is. Look at the historical record of T20Is played in Australia. Starc, Tait, Lee, Johnson, Cummins none of them have particular great wicket taking record there.

We have had 4 specialist bowlers in so many of these T20 WCs which hasn't worked. I wouldn't mind seeing a different strategy this time with a more depth in the batting.

Most succesfull T20I pacers in Australia

Kane Richardson

Faulkner

Nathan Bracken

Hazlewood

None of them outright pacers but very skilful bowlers with excellent slow balls and cutters. Maybe Dravid is onto something especially with our 'trundlers' being decent bats as well.

Definitely No.

In t20? Nope.

In odi and tests? Absa*inglutely.

T20 believe it or not stats favour trundlers with variations. Subtle speed variations is key.

WILL NEVER WORK IN TESTS. Medium pacers are only good as 4th pacer or 5h in tests provided they can bat.

Even in odi. Sorry trundling twits. No mercy as third pacer.

Last time Aussies won odi WC in Australia, this was their attack:

Johnson

Starc

Hazlewood

Faulkner (good variation medium fast who can bat)

Watson (same as Faulkner and can bat)

Maxwell (spin trundler option who can slog)

So we need to follow the same in odi WC if we play down under again. It would be as follows:

Bumrah

Prasidh

Siraj

Chahar

Venky iyer

Pandya

This may work in t20 too. May*. Number 9 is iffy though cause we need a number 9 that can bat.

@express bowling @rkt.india

So, I am scouring the Ranji scoreboards looking for new fast bowler names that can keep the dominant India pace pipeline alive; I get to the Mumbai/Goa scorecard and see that a guy named Shams Mulani opened the bowling for Mumbai and took 6 wkts.

Shams Mulani.  Sounds like a fast-bowler name, na?  So, excitedly I open his profile .... only to find out that he is a slow left-arm orthodox.  Nothing wrong with being that, but really .... opening the bowling in a FC match?  T20, I get it.  ODI, maybe.  But FC?  What is this - the 70s?  Homage to the days of the famed quartet?  Nostalgia pleasure for dadajis who are still singing the praises of Bapu Nadkarni?  Mother of all KLPDs ...

We are slowly becoming like Bangladesh.  These slow left arm trundling spinners galore.

Either that or there are more natural lefties these days.  Ofcourse there are exceptions like Sundar who bats left handed, bowls right handed like Raina,   In the last 2019/20 season top 5 wicket takers among spinners were left arm orthodox. If you consider Unadkat as one 6 left arm spinners lol  6th spinner is a leggie.

Mulani is actually a solid domestic player. bowls okay and his lower-order batting is quite good.

obviously pitches are a big issue, so I agree with you on the general sentiments.
