Batting looks really thin..  The f** is chandimal doing there?  Rajapaksa is dropped lol

Bowling is quality.  Our batsmen would be tested against both spin & pace.  Bigger test than WI imo.

Kumara

Chameera

Hasaranga

Theekshana

4 straight starters for them.   Jayawickrama is exciting Test match option.  Old school left arm spinner.

Cricbuzz rating the current WI side as the worst T20 side going around.

The fact that they troubled India and pushed India in games, makes me worried if India are not cherry ripe.

Good test to see where we are at, considering this SL team was smashed by Australia. We should beat them.

We should but they will run us close in at least one game & might even beat us.

Bowling looks their strength.  If their batting clicks this could be a good series.

There is variety in their attack & except SKY not may can dominate their spinners.   Zampa Agar were gun for Aus in Australia for a while.  So we need to see how our players handle spin threat.  Pace of Chameera Kumara both 90mph bowlers will be a test for young players like Venky Kishan Ruturaj.

Thanks I love your astute posting on here, along with @express bowling@Vijy@raki05 in particular. There are many others, for sure,

Its just that with you guys feed so much info that I dont know living outside the Indian bubble its hard to hear, read, see or know whats going on in Indian Cricket 24/7.

I really appreciate the insights all you 4 posters give me especially when I ask you too.

Time for this Aussie-Indian to go to bed now.

lol. For the record, they dont call me Aussie-India, or Indian for that matter, I will save that story for another day.

yes, their bowling is strong. they also have a plethora of ARs (more like bits-and-pieces players), which enables them to bat quite deep.

On our last tour to SL, most of our batsmen were clueless against Hasaranga. Except SKY.    Not sure which way his ball turns. He has variety of off spin, leg spin & googly.  LOL.     Hope our batsmen hv watched his video footage.  Otherwise, they could be in for a nasty surprise.

Except SKY I remember rest all of them were clueless.  Even seasoned opener like Dhawan had no answer.

Hasaranga nearly ended Sanju Samson's career....  He struggled the most.

I think Rajapaksa quit the game!

Yep, Samson looked like a rabit caught in traffic jam.  We might get whitewashed against this Lankan team if our TM takes them lightly.  They hv much better bowling attack than Windies. Lot more variety.  Hasaranga, Theekshana and Chamera (bowls at 140+) caused lot of trouble to the Aussie batsmen as well on this tour.

yes, they do have a strong and varied attack. also got some useful ARs in the order apart from the four main bowlers:

Kumara
Chameera
Hasaranga
Theekshana

Sri Lanka is a poor ODI outfit but have impact players to trouble big sides in T20.  They competed well in WT20.  Even in recent T20 series  they gave good fight to Australia despite losing Hasaranga mid way due to Covid.

Australia barely managed to score above 150-160 vs their bowling.  They were robbed off a game in 2nd T20 by Umpire.  Won the 5th.   So they are not horrible by any means especially their bowling.

Playing Bumrah, Bhuvi and Jadeja in this series will block 3 spots of young players. Rohit, being the new captain, should be the only experienced player in the 11.

Bumrah is not in the squad.  Bhuvi Jaddu both will play unfortunately.  Don't mind Jaddu's inclusion before Test series as he may get match practice but ideally should have been playing Ranji games

Bumrah is in the T20 squad as VC!

Jadeja should be asked to play for Saurashtra in their next Ranji Trophy match vs Odisha starting from 24th February at Ahmedabad. Match gets over on 27th Feb, Jaddu can then directly linkup with the test team (1st test starts on 4th March)
