How do you think Kohli/Sehwag/Gambhir/Dhoni/Warner anyone would have reacted :) Not sure all will react the same way. While it is fair to criticize his come back,also we should not go overboard with treating like Ashwin has committed a crime.  Not everyone necessarily  have to be funny.  Some even wants  him to retire from all forms of cricket. Who is over-reacting here? Ashwin or us. I guess both.

I just find his inability to take a joke / jibe sportingly or with a witty comeback pretty sad.

 

Forget the Gibbs part and the fixing part....even if it was a non fixer person making the initial joke,he probably would have reacted badly because he comes across as an arrogant person .

Yup he is arrogant. He has displayed that trait a few times.  In the current team only Pujara,  Rahane are meek i think.

ACtually there is no prior history between these two which is why i am surprised about Gibb's poke at Ashwin.

i guess they never played against each other ( doubt tthey faced in IPL as well ) ..

usually ashwin is really good in giving nosecuts , but this time for some reason got annoyed and jumped the gun early

If he had played cool. Reaction of fans would have gone the other way. lol Many would have made Gibbs fun of for his fixing. It is very hard to gauge the pulse of twitter audience. Guys like Tendulkar, Dravid would not have bothered to respond at all. But they are revered, admired. But Ashwin often talks too much for his own good.  Someone like Sehwag would have got  away with this comment as he has a history of speaking his mind.  Ashwin is even responding to his fans lol

I think most of them you meant would have replied with a cheeky reply but kept the whole fixing part out.

 

Moment someone brings fixing part, shows the guy is trying to insult the other guy, and if he is trying to insult means  he was really mad at what Gibbs said to him.

 

One shouldn’t be angry so easily. Ashwin lacks sense of humor I think.

Yes he was angry.  My point is why she we expect him to take it sportively.  When we mock someone's physical ability you never who will react how. One mistake he did was trying to clean it up and pass it as a joke .Yes he is slightly more thin skinned for a sportsman. Either he should have come out with a better come back or not responded at all. That is evenbetter

Look, not so long ago Ashwin was India's match winner. Now he is on the outside wondering how he can get his job back. He has probably even heard stuff about his slow movements in the field being a factor against his making it back into the side. So Gibbs' comment hit a sore spot and Ashwin gave it back with interest. When you rib somebody you don't know, you are taking chances. Gibbs got kicked in the a**. He'll live.

Yup. When you mock someone for physical traits, physical ability make sure he is cool enough to take it in his stride. If Gibbs made fun of Sachin's height i don't think Sachin would have said anything back. But Gibbs would have been forced to quit the twitter by Mallus lol

Edit: although on tweet issue, I am on

nobody's side.. One would not want to hurt someone talking about his fixing past.. On the other hand what Gibbs did was wrong... Coz he probably doesn't know Ashwin and gibbs does have a weak spot (fixing past) that he should think that people can target..
