We can easily play

1. Rohit

2. Kohli

3. Pant

I was against this initially. However, after some thought the way KL has been batting, Kohli might as well open its not like KL has been shielding Kohli from the new ball.

Importantly though, KL eats up balls then gets out, which has a compounding effect, because when Kohli comes in he eats up balls without any scoreboard damage too initially. At least with Kohli eating balls, he can set up a platform to build on.

I dont mind Pant opening because he loves to go aerial and mistimed aerial shots has a better chance of landing safely inside the first 6 overs. I also saw again his innings vs Pakistan in the last T20 WC. Is Indian Cricket genuinely mad? He actually handled and batted well against Pakistan, he should have been played in the first match. In the last WC he scored 39 off 30 vs Pakistan. 2nd highest score in the innings and highest SR for a player that score more than 11 runs.  Yet we play KL who plays like a real meek weak scared coward instead? Consecutive failures now by KL vs Pakistan in WCs.

I know you know your cricket, so please correct me if I am wrong here. It SHITS me, when people say Pant has had his chances? Has he really? Has he played in the same position for multiple series in a row? The TM constantly screw him over by the way they manage him, sometimes he opens sometimes he comes later in the innings. Give the kid stability and let him feel comfortable in  one position over a period of time then judge him on that. I feel every time he bats there is always some ridiculous pressure placed on him to succeed in every innings.

The other thing that shits me, is this is AUSTRALIAN CONDITIONS. He bats like he is fearless here. He enjoys Australia. This should be playing in the XI. Karthik does well in sub continental conditions but he will get exposed in Australia.

SA have Roussow, Miller, Klassen who are extreme hitters

Quinton, Stubbs and Markram can also hit

Maharaj and Jansen/Parnell can swing a bat when needed

Going to be hard to control them. The only weak point is Bavuma and even he plays against India... somehow. Anyway I have a suspicion that he will be dropped.

On the Perth pitch their pace bowling attack of Rabada,Parnell/Jansen,Nortje,Ngidi will be better than ours and more potent too. They field better than us.

Going to be a tough match.

We need to chase, because I cant see us restricting SA.

Our tuk tuk approach at the top of the order will give us barely 160 to 170 which is no where near enough vs SA if we bat first.

India got very very lucky rolling SA chasing just chasing 160. If not for the Pakistan brain fade, we lose that game.

Meanwhile our batting side will be content in being 1/60 after 10 overs and 3/100 off 15 overs.

I am in favor of shunting KL down. Pick a sacrificial player Hooda up the order and see if we can disrupt their opening bowling. 4 lefties, Axar patel is a huge risk. if they end up not using him after 1 over his selection will become a gigantic waste.

I don’t trust our batsmen to chase anything beyond 140 in Perth. Kohli doesn’t happen every day

If you want to be very honest, Kohli has happened once a year for the past few years.

dont worry on perth wicket 220 aint getting chased down. In Wc add 20 runs in total for pressure

No way 240 is happening while chasing specially when they lack depth in batting, actually they are a 5 batsman team and we have 2 very economical bowler

I did say same team earlier but very tempted to drop Shami and get in Harshal for this game. Shami has come back and should be drafted slowly into the team. We will need him in the other games.

Play pant over Axar ,we don't need 6 bowlers in Perth ,it'll be too Bowler heavy.

Axar will get murdered by rossouw ,Miller in the middle overs .

I don't like our pace bowling attack ,Perth required at least 2 quick bowlers but we have a trundler brigade upfront
