Can anyone explain me the logic of these selections in ODIs squad ?

1. No Hardik Pandya in ODI squad for BD?

2. Shubhman Gill not picked for the ODI squad while Dhawan in the XI?

3. Ishan Kishan being picked and not Sanju Samson?

4. Tripathi and Patidar being picked why? Shouldn't we be picking Gill, SKY and Samson instead.

5. All the spinners picked are bits and pieces one like Sundar, Axar and Jadeja. No Chahal or Kuldeep or even Bishnoi?

Something from left field by me, but India need to explore options and utilize its assets as best as possible. Why not be inventive, because we have failed miserably with the same approach for years.

Could we try using SKY as opener in both T20 and ODI? The more balls he faces the more runs he scores, having him come 2 down in T20 was just madness in the WC. I would rather SKY go tuk tuk ahead of anyone else in the PP, because we know his acceleration can be phenomenal.

Could we use SKY in Test Cricket, its radical and something out of the box, but he is the kind of player that could change the result of a game in a session. Its a high risk approach to Test Cricket, but it would be attacking and given years of Pujara and Rahane, its definitely taking the game on.

Thoughts?

With odi and T20 I agree , for test matches not so sure though however we may try him at 6-7 down to take on bowlers like bairstow does.

As I said, because he has gears and can accelerate, him going tuk tuk initially if he decided to do that, is better for team India than having Hitman and KL open, as they not only inevitably fail, but also consume balls, meaning less balls for SKY.

Drunk morons. How do they come up with a squad like this with some players missing in one series, some missing in another series.

If I assume Pandya, SKY and Arshdeep are given a rest because they played the WT20 and then the NZ series, still can't understand

1. Gill not being picked for ODI squad. Why? Is he injured or rested or dropped :phehe:

2. Samson not being picked again. Why? These two guys have done well in the B team that India plays for.

3. No Chahal or Kuldeep. Why? considering that they will be i reckoning in future then pick one.

Just unnecessarily increasing the squad and the selection names in consideration to almost 30. But when we are near the World Cup, only 15 will be selected and then they will mess up.

They want to arrange a farewell party for thigh slapper, as they did for MS in 2019, so this is just a practice for next year's WC :lollypop:

Any reason why the backup players like Gill, Pandya, Samson and SKY are rested? No spinner also like Chahal or Kuldeep. Whatare these guys resting for?

They are backing Hooda and Washington for that Pandya's replacement. So, no Venky Iyer.

And as I say this, no Hooda in ODI squad for Bangladesh either. Never seen backup players being rested for a series. Only Indian selectors are capable of producing stuffs like this.

Forget about Madness of this situation.

Its the most stupid thing I have ever seen in Indian cricket. And I have seen a lot over the years.

A 32+ year old bowler who failed to deliver in the WC that literally finished days ago is selected over a young up coming fast bowler.

Do they think Boobi needs more experience? :hysterical:

Where is the forward thinking of preparing for the next WC?

As soon as laxu became coach I knew that Bhuvi will play all the matches. This laxu is known trundler lover.

Either most of our ex cricketers seems to have have no idea how to select pacers, or they're too scared of the backlash if things go wrong.
Except for odd sane voices here and there, rest all just keep on playing the broken record of "line length trundlers".

Agree.

How can things go wrong?

These are meaningless irrelevant bi lateral series. The selectors are being irresponsible.
