Klassen is mediocre as a test batter. He had his chances but dint do well.

The test was much closer than it appears. In fact, SA bowlers have better SR than Aussies in the match! Just that the Aussie batters scored quickly which made the difference in the end.

So if you see history Indians are pretty decent in  Brisbane. Infact in last 20 years India has won 6 tests and drawn 7 tests against Aus in Aus, plus won 2 series and drawn 1  up there which is remarkable..Overall India has not lost to Aus in a series since 2013/14..  we could have won in sydney thrice ( 2004, 2008 and 2018) but were robbed.. one by a gentleman called waugh with his extraordinary batting in last test and piss poor wicket keeping by mr patel, one by an umpire and one by weather. As a comparison not that it means anything and with due respect, pakistan has not even drawn a single test in aus since 1996.. forget winning..

We lost 2-0 in 2014-15...  The Smith series...  Also last time Aus won BGT.

No Asian team except India has come closer to winning Test matches in All these venues in Southern Hemisphere. 

 

Apart from Newlands Cape Town India has won a Test pretty much in every premier Test venue. 

 

Pak has 0 test wins in Joburg Centurion Perth Brisbane Newlands.

This is what I was saying about Akram once a while ago.....For all the talk about him (and Waqar and Shoaib), the performance of Pak in Aus is disappinting. And Akram taking a fifer here and there is nothing - kind of like the hat-trick in WC final today. Means nothing.

Acultially Australia suck vs bounce too. Bumrah siraj obliterated them last time. 

 

Batting wise Aussies are better than India in Aussie conditions. We have 3 walking wickets.

ind often doctors pitches these days to favor ash-jaddu. if we get raging turners, 5-man spin attack is conceivable, although it won't happen: ash, jaddu, kuldeep, axar, sundar [all 5 bat to varying degrees]

I know @express bowling hates these pitches, but I loved seeing England, SA and Australia over recent tours being absolutely torn apart by our spin bowlers.

 

I am in the minority but I also enjoy 2-3 day test matches. It makes every session so crucial, enjoyable and interesting.

 

Axar was like better than Messi  in Football when England toured India last. Vaughan on Cricbuzz who was interviewed after each days play was so angry at our pitches, I loved it.

I don't really like 2-3 day matches as well. good balance between bat and ball is desirable. moreover, on raging turners opposition always has a chance since likes of root, o'keefe, clarke, etc. can run rampant and win tests.

While true, India has been unbeatable in these conditions in India.

I guess I was agreeing with other posters who may prefer 4 or 5 day matches.

 

Ind has been quite beatable on raging turners, as Oz nearly showed when Stewie was in God-mode. right now, with all the seniors, our batting vs spin is poorer than Aus, who have Stewie, Labu (decent, but not great), and Khawaja (decent, not great); head and warner and greene and carey can be readily ignored.

Going by whom we will pick, it will be tough on raging turners. Just need to produce standard Indian pitches with a bit of bounce and turn.
