His away record vs top teams( Australia, India, England, South Africa):

Matches - 27

Runs - 1645

AVG - 33.5

Compare it to other players of his era,

Kohli 3356 , AVG 43

Root 3016, AVG 43

Smith 2960, AVG 61

Pujara 2517, AVG 33

Stokes 2040, AVG 36

Warner 1838, AVG 32

Pant 1426, AVG 39

His record vs top teams away is extremely poor and his runs tally is also less which means he feasted on heavily on home pitches or against poor bowling attacks on flat pitches away from home like Pakistan, UAE, Windies, BD and Zimbabwe.

Yes. Absolutely. He is way overrated.

His record is great in Oceania and Windies. Otherwise he is an average batsman everywhere else.

In New Zealand it is great.

In Australia, it is boosted by one series 2015-16 where he scored 140 in Brisbane(which was a good knock quality wise) and 165 in Perth(a proper patta where Taylor also got 290 odd).

In his recent tour to Australia,  he was flop.

Yes but Pakistan Babar need to learn the art of flat pitches bullying from these two in tests. He gets to 60-70 and gets out usually or doesn't contribute in 2nd inning.

babar needs to learn from these 2 akbars

lots of underrated batters worth mentioning: Stewie (smith), Cook, Amla, Trott, and Prior [the best batter-keeper prior to Pants]

Yeah, his 2011 series was poor as well...

One thing to consider is his record in Windies. It suggests he can play in heavy seaming/swinging conditions, at least against Windies quality bowlers.

CricViz data suggest the ball has the most movement(swing+seam) there and England.

End of day what matters is that one innings he played against India in wtc in that treacherous pitch 49 of 170 balls. Nz were tottering at 135/5 then 162/6..shami bowling rippers, and Kane came, steadied the innings, built partnerships and took NZ to 249 with a lead of 32 odd runs.. rest is history.. tell you what that match still hurts..

kane can handle swing better than most, although not as well as, say, dravid.

It was the way he handled pressure.. exemplary.. 180 all out became 250. India would have got a 30 run lead and would have gone on to give them a 4th innings chase of 275.. match would have been drawn at the least

I think we still could have drawn the game had we batted better on Final Day. We lost 9 wickets in 1.5 sessions.
