While players like Fatit, Chokohli, Gujji and Kela rule the roost. Not sure why you are bringing Rohit Sharma into this when he is the only batsman in test team playing on merit.

The threshold for failure varies from player to player. Their superstardom status determines it. Rahane was milking big time using his initial overseas performances. Pujara gets dropped only to come back after bashing some B grade teams. Many players were not given enough rope. But some got more than they deserved. This threshold is controlled by sponsors, brands that promot these players. Gautam Gambhir usually straight shooter has a dishonest take on KL Rahul. Deep down he knows Rahul needs a break. But being a mentor of LSG he is in a position to lie blatantly about his performance. Vijy and SRT100 1 1
Sandz Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 On a serious note Gill could have already cemented his spot if he was consistent, other than the Gabba innings he hasn’t done much and I blame IPL for that as he was/is focused on his IPL career while his test form suffered. And if he fails again I’m afraid KLPD will be back.

Only thing that will stop him is himself.

wanted_desi Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 Long time: Pujara isn't going anywhere after that 59 LOL. No one has questioned Kohli as of yet for selectors to be in pressure. I can only see his end after SA when we lose badly.
Lord Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 we can already see threads about his majestic 59 that took match to 3rd day sarcastic and sage 2

tapandrun Posted March 5, 2023 Posted March 5, 2023 (edited) Overhauling should have started after poor show in WC-2021 in white ball and TWC last year. No one is going to make those calls, BCCI did nt had guts to drop/not select Dhoni in T20 and ODis (his last 3/4 years). Player like Rahul and Rahane have been given longer ropes and made the vice-captains. Ind has not been able to find a Opening pair after Sehwag and Gambhir. The only good thing happened in last 10 years span is rise of Ind fast bowling, which is also aging and there are no good succession plans and short and slower bowlers are being picked even. Bowlers like Sen are side lined and Mukesh and Mavi are preferred over him. Ind has to bring 30 years old batters in t20 (nt particularly against selecting 30 years old) because Ind younger batters have not come to terms with modern day batting. They are in limbo no proper t20/Odi batter no proper test batter is present in the domestic cricket. Fielding is other problem area, there are no exceptional fielder as well. Youre 100% correct, there is different thresholds for player failures. KL was failing for months on end. You need to have healthy competition for spots. If players cant handle the pressure they should be kicked out. This is the reason why India fails in WC tournaments all the time for years now. express bowling 1

The only time I pay interest is if an Indian bowls or bats well, then I will try and watch the highlights of that performance, otherwise I couldnt care less. While it has many positives, there are also many negatives that come with the IPL. An interesting poll would be on here, would you want your IPL team to win tournament or India win a WC?
