Yeah, it would be one of the two bowlers depending on Indian options (and how CSK uses impact player) and if Stokes is bowling well.

Yes. The other option would be Santner who would factor for Ali but he is a bowling allrounder. They prove that sometimes having just enough overseas options is better than having too many overseas options which teams like SRH etc suffer from.

Santner is more of a back up option atm as CSK has Jadeja to too.

Looks like CSK has just tried to keep their 2021 winning side combination again

Gaikwad

Conway (earlier it was Faf)

Rahane (earlier it was Uthappa)

Rayudu

Ali

Jadeja

Dhoni

Dube as a floater

Has Rahane worked with a hitting coach before this IPL. Where was this Rahabe for the last 7 years where his batting reeked of timidity.

Rahane was never timid. He would just get stuck in a rut. However if he comes back in on basis of this performance he will go back to square 1 in internationals

With Shreyas Iyer injured, Rahane might come back as the No.4 for the WC... which doesn't sound too bad given his form

In ODIs and internationals he will be back to take it deep, consolidating mode. Seen it many times before from “veteran” IPL performers

Why do people leave Umesh, Shami etc for the death. Their best shot is to run though line ups with the new ball. They bowl at the right pace in the right test match length slot at the death.

Honestly, Rahane sounds better as a middle order option than KL Rahul.

There is a good chance that both might play. Rahane at 4 and KL at 5 as the keeper.

he is also competing with SKY and Samson, so long shot

This David Wiese seems such a waste of an overseas spot. Whatever happened to Fergusson

Or just play Litton Das and get an Indian bowler. He won't do worse than Wiese

Amdavad, Banglore, Chennai, Gauhati, Hyderabad, Kolkatta, & Mumbai are basically get 190-210+ (unless and until the pitches get tired) if batting first venues … Need to see how Dharamsala’s pitch plays out

He is a very good finisher with the bat

SKY will likely be dumped given his duck fest.

Rahane and Samson in the middle order sounds good as long as KL gets dumped

Dubeji got the power but he only has a couple of zones he connects with. Not much of a range: also what happened to his bowling? Don’t remember when he bowled last

"How ironic the keeper and bowler are communicating in Tamil against the team from Tamil Nadu. That would be like the Welsh Fire playing London Spirit and the London team bowler and spinner chatting in Welsh to confound the opposition." (stolen from Cricinfo)

Admittedly, the safest language to discuss tactics when playing against KKR in is Bengali (especially now that Litton Das is not in the playing XI). Also ironic that the only Bengali-speaking player capped by KKR in recent times is an overseas player.
