Possible Fast Bowling Replacements For Team India

Recommended Posts

With no Bumrah and a well past prime Umesh and Ishant being done, the team needs fast bowling stocks.

I don't believe Unadkat or Mukesh Kumar are anywhere near international class.

Who are the possible replacements?

Harshit Rana

Kartik Tyagi

Prasidh Krishna

Vidwath Kaverappa

Mayank Yadav

They all are suitable for longer formats, they are tall, bouncy and quick.

Hangargekar and Yudhvir can play as allrounders

There is no replacement.

Kartik Tyagi can't make it to IPL side, he won't make it to international cricket.

Indian team is in decline. All is over now. Siraj will have some good days and some tough days like today and retire with 200 wickets at 300. Indian cricket will go back to 90s where Zimbabwe will be owning us.

Shami & Siraj have to lead the attack.

Then India can do some trial and error for 3rd pacer among the following (based on watching potential in IPL and top of the mind recall):

Multiple formats

Prasidh (injured)

H Rana (if he can maintain his pace)

Y Dayal (left arm bowler who looks to bowl test match length even in T20s. Needs to improve his pace to be able to bowl consistently at 140+)

Tyagi (was a part of test net bowling set up but appears to have gone off the radar. Needs to make a strong comeback)

LOIs

Umran (appears to have lost some pace so needs to work on “variety” and of course getting back to bowling at 150)

Need to see more of other bowlers!

Note: Have not included Moshin because of the recent allegations of a hideous crime.

What team India needs is a couple of tall bounce bowlers. From 2022, our bowling looks toothless when the ball stops moving.

In the absence of Bumrah, this team has only Siraj who can provide some pace and bounce.

My picks for test matches are

Harshit Rana who has high pace, height, natural bounce, movement and a solid FC season under his belt.

Kuldeep Sen who has high pace, height, sudden bounce, movement and sufficient FC experience including a 8 fer in Irani Cup.

Prasidh Krishna

All this talk about Indian fast bowling is fine.

Reason I have given up speculating is that nothing ever happens and no fast bowlers get selected. If .... if .... if given a chance like Navdeep Saini, they manage to pick up an injury in the first few overs of the match.

The only one who got a real chance was Bumrah and that was thanks to the much maligned Kohli who stuck his neck out for Bumrah in test cricket.

My guess is occasionally someone may get a chance but Indian management is content being a trundler nation and one which sticks with the old "experienced" trundlers at that.
