BCCI uncles have zero clue which teams are more competitive these days among associates. we almost lost a t20 in Ireland last time albeit with a second string team. I wouldn't be that sure of beating them comfortably in all games tbh. They beat England too in the WC.
rageaddict Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 Unless something shocking happens again, it should be SL and Zimbabwe qualifying for the WC simply due to th fact that they will be carrying forward 4 full points to the Super 6s round. It's very difficult for the lower teams to catch up with them now.
rageaddict Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 ICC did favour Zimbabwe here by alloting them the hostings rights for the qualifiers. Zimbabwe are more than a decent team on their home venues with crowd behind their backs, took full advantage of the little help that they got from the ICC.

Raza is in the form of his life with both bat/ball. TBH.. SL are brutal this tournament. They bat all the way down to 11 and no one has gotten past Hasaranga yet. ZIM should give them tough fight though Zero_Unit 1

Zimbos beat Pak in WT20 in Perth & also In a ODI in Pakistan. Plus I guess Dutch too in WT20. They are not a bad side. Guys like Ervine Williams & Raza are mercurial players. Tall bowlers like Muzarabani & Nagrava as well.

Maybe even Namibia as well. Ireland needs some desi Talent like the Dutch have got with Sardarji at the top & that Aryan kid + that Teja guy the centurion.

Ireland are a Test nation and have been for 7 years receiving much more funding and games against other test nations than an associate nation . Associate cricket is becoming a joke with amount of Indians / Pakistanis now playing for them . Scotland is only associate who field home grown Scots or with a scottish parent . The qualifying of the associate league for the WC qualifying groups consisted of each playing 36 games and Scotland won it with at least 5 games to spare

They also beat Australia in Australia in an ODI just before the World T20 I think. But the World Cup qualifiers should be played in whichever country hosts the World Cup not elsewhere. Last time, AFG got absolutely battered in the World Cup because it was held in England. But the qualifiers were held on slow decks in the UAE . eulbninem and Lone Wolf 2

With Zim football team suspended from FIFA cricket is rn their no 1 sport.

Its usually India, Pakistan 2.0 in each tournament. Hell even England/Aus/NZ/SA are featuring them aswell haha
Zero_Unit Posted June 29, 2023 Author Posted June 29, 2023 So is Super 6 everyone plays everyone and the top 2 go through the final?

But teams don't play everyone but only against those they didn't play in the first round. Also carry over the points from the first round against the other qualifying teams of the group.
rollingstoned Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 SL are 64/4 batting first against Ned. If they lose today it will blow the super 6 wide open.
rollingstoned Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 99/6 Shanaka out plumb lbw going for an almighty slog.
sage Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 Are Dutch players actually native whites or Saffer expats?
nitinbwj Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 Dhananjaya saved SL today. SL all out for 212. Enough for them. Ned won't get past SL spinners
