Australia won the last Ashes so if the series result is a draw, Australia will retain it.

England will have to win the series for an Ashes victory while Australia need only a draw, lot of Aussie fans were happy when it was raining as a draw would have meant Australia will retain the Ashes.

England would probably prepare the most result oriented pitches or their approach will be to win at all costs, draw or flat pitches in any of the upcoming two matches goes against their interests

England has fixed their combination. Also batting has become deeper. Robinson injury ridden bowler will be gone. England will have full battery of bowlers at their disposal. Stokes will also have had enough request. On the other hand semi fit Hazlewood will replace Boland.  Labu and Smith have to show up. If it is green top i back England

How did they fix combination? Mo ali at 3 is not even a band aid fix. If pope is back they will need to drop ali/woakes. And they still don't have a competent keeper

Stokes must win the toss again and wood must bowl at full throttle with andu/broad giving good support to win next match

I want to see it happen but they will need a lot of luck. Smith will not gift wickets to Ali in every innings

Johnny cannot be keeper anymore, just let him open in place of duckett/crawley and get foakes in

duckett is very good; and crawley is very good at servicing key, BMac, stokes, etc. so they won't let him go.

Smith is mostly done for the series. real onus is on Labu to raise his game.

How are you saying Smith is done for the series though? He had a brain fade in last innings, won't have it every match.

Labu is actually struggling and his luck has run it's course

because he is only at 30% of his peak ability. the irony, of course, is that smith at 30% is the equal of root at average ability. if Peak Smith of '19 was playing, it would be comfortably 3-0 in favor of ozzies.
