Why Asia cup fixture not coming out?Update : Dekho woh aa gaya!

Recommended Posts

If this is not utter unprofessionalism from ACC, then what is?

Asia Cup cricket is supposed to start from 31 August but with little over than a month left the fixture is not released yet. If this is due to the August being monsoon season in Sri Lanka, why choose that country as venue?

Pakistan - India won't play

Dubai - too hot to play

SL - too much rain to play

What a farce...ACC/Jay Shah should be ashamed.

Yeah same question. Heard somewhere that schedule will be out on 14th but it didn't.

I'd have been in favour of scrapping that altogether but we need as much match practice as possible before the World Cup against decent sides. Also it's a multi national event so a chance for our mental midgets to get used to a tournament environment.

Love Asia cup...not sure why most in favour of scrapping it.

It is anyday better than bilateral ODI series. With Afg and BD no longer a pushover, Asia cup is really a competitive tournament.

So far we only know Lahore & Dambulla as venues.  There is threat of rain as well so matches in SL might be  adjusted according to weather of the region during that period.

That's the only explanation I think.

Do you think it has anything to do with recent threat by Pak minister that if India don't visit to Pak for Asia cup, they will also not come to India to play the world cup?

Jay Shah met PCB chief Zaka Ashraf few days ago...  I think Cricbuzz reported that Asia cup will happen as per schedule

Idk if they are trying to restructure the format or something to make sure Pak plays more than 1 game in Lahore.

I too enjoy Asia cup alot. Both BD/AFG lifted their game and are no longer an easy win for anyone. This is one of those tournament where it's neck to neck challenge for all teams. Also, as much as we all say we don't care, this is also one of those rare times we see IND V PAK matches.

They could have structured the games in a way where the teams didn't need to travel much. No one contested playing in PAK except IND. So play all matches in PAK except IND matches and play them somewhere else (be it dubai/lanka/Bd, etc). Just work around the dates/restructure the matches and that was it. But these brown desi mofos uncles like too much drama and we fans get the end of the stick.

Will be hilarious if we fail to make the finals for a 2nd consecutive time. Will be even more hilarious if we make it to the summit clash and then inevitably choke against Pak or Lanka, with top 3 getting out in single digits. Luckily for these choker clowns, in 2016 and '18 Toygers made the finals.

Dravid and Rohit will take us to the deepest pits imaginable, for persisting with these clowns and not doing justice to young talent, I won't mind the upcoming humiliation even against these weaker sides.

PCB stalls Asia Cup Schedule, wants BCCI-like revenue share from Sri Lanka leg

Why is it taking so long for Asia Cup Schedule?

  • PCB wants the schedule to be reworked.
  • Currently, Pakistan will only get 4 games including just one home game.
  • With rain expected in Sri Lanka, Pakistan wants to host more than 4 games to avoid washouts.
  • Furthermore, Pakistan also wants a bigger chunk of revenue share from Sri Lanka leg of matches.
  • If the matches were to be held in UAE, PCB would have earned more.
  • As Sri Lanka hosts 9 matches, PCB wants to ensure they get at par with what BCCI got from Asia Cup last year in the UAE.
  • PCB officials are meeting with ACC officials in Dubai on Sunday and Monday.

If UAE had hosted the 2nd leg, PCB would earn more from gate money, hoardings and marketing ventures. However, all other nations shot down the idea due to the heat in the country during September.

“In Sri Lanka, it is hard to generate an extra amount. We have to reach some understanding with the ACC to ensure that we would get the revenues we are looking at. That is to generate the same revenues that India generated from hosting the Asia Cup last year in Dubai,” the source explained.

That is one helluva schedule lol.. Pakistan will likely have to travel back and forth three times.

Also it's interesting to see if Star sports, being the official broadcasters of this tournament, will go to Pakistan and cover the games there..

They will analyse and commentate from studio only. Maybe 2-3 Pak commies for pitch reports/toss etc.
