Think their prime target is to defeat Bharat at Narendra Modi jee stadium in front of 1.3 Lakh fans and millions watching on television. And they will be many times more determined to create history on that day. Baaki Asia Cup, Semis , Finals wagera must be secondary thoughts.

And Rahul Dravid and his vision leaving no stone unturned to materialize this deeam

One day Afghanistan will edge past Pakistan and from then onwards, they will be more confident going forward. Maybe the WC match between the two sides at Chennai will be that beginning..

Even Bangladesh had a big mental block against Pakistan where they lost around 20-25 consecutive matches , sometimes from winning position and always fell short by a small margin. Things turned for them during the Odi series where Mustafizur led Bangladesh to a series whitewash against Pakistan and from that stage, Bangladesh has the confident and self belief to defeat Pakistan on a good day.

Looks like Pakistan spin attack will trouble them more in Chennai.

I am not impressed with Rashid at all.  His bowling has been on a downward slide.

They need to bring in Noor Ahmad who was outbowling Rashid in IPL.

He is far more skilled & talented than Rashid.

Would be a death blow to Jay Shah & BCCI & entire brass which wouldn't be a bad thing in the long run.

Though I suppose Asia Cup will be perfect precursor to that...  And it will help that India won't be ambushed by unknowns.

Rashid actually bamboozled them in both games. He was a bit unlucky with edges and bounce.  Lot of times they got trapped only to see ball sailing over stumps. They do try to see him off still they couldn't pick him comfortably. If it is IPL style pitch is offered at Chennai he can be a handful.

I am not sure he looked at his best in IPL..  His performance in every league is on a downward slide.

Hambantota had a large outfield and a sizeable turn on offer..  If you can't do well here &,  get outbowled by Shadab who bowled in the night btw..  Its panic stations.

Shadab i saw in 2nd match. Bowled absolute tripe. Rashid bowled brilliantly.  He was just too good for them. Afghanistan probably will get rolled over by anyone when they chase slightly bigger total. Rashid khan and Narine are the most over-exposed spinner in world cricket. So there is some familiarity for most batsmen in world cricket. Yet most of the time they just tried to see him off with low back-lift. Lot of times they couldn't pick which way the ball turned. If there is one thing Rashid can work upon is bowling a little fuller. Twice the lbw shouts looked stone dead. But both times review suggested ball was going over stumps.

With Afg i don't think it's confidence

It's experience of playing against stronger teams maybe

Yes they play in a lot of t20 leagues but it's tougher in odis when not everyone is trying to hit everything out of the park, especially against Pak who are more reserved than other teams when batting and rely on their bowlers alot more. Shadab did say he was trying to see off Rashid.

With Bangladesh i remember that series, straight after Misbah, Afridi retired and a few new players came in Pak were nowhere near where they were before and even after a couple of years they were v ordinary. Surprisingly they won CT17 and came close to a SF spot in WC19. Overall though, their golden years in ODIs were the 90s. After Australia, South Africa, they were the best team.

Afg competed well against pak other than first match. If its not for their brain fart they could easily 2nd one.

It's like those 2 full tosses Farooqi bowled in asia cup last year. Must have been trying yorkers and it went horribly wrong.

Well batted Mujeeb. Bowling teams will take into consideration his hitting potential in the future.

This was his first 50 coz i was surprised too and checked his stats. Normally u see Rashid go all out.

But the question is has Banhladesh actually ever defeated pakistan since that self belief instilling victory? Lol
