This is how it will shape out.

  1. Top teams SA, Aus, Eng, NZ, Pak
  2. 2nd tier : SL, BD, AFG, NDL

We are playing these teams in this sequence

  1. Aus, Afg, Pak, BD, NZ
  2. Eng, SL, SA, NDL

Qualifying scenarios, if we lose:

  1. 2 game : 100%
  2. 2 games + 2 tie : 50-70%
  3. 3 games  : 50-70%
  4. 3+ games : bye-bye. WC wont be worth watching anyways.

No disrespect to 2nd tier teams but likelihood of us losing 3 games against top tier teams and any other team beating any 2 teams of those top 3 to sneak through ahead of us is slim.

If we lose a game against the first set of teams then we will have tough time as games against ENG and SA will become quarterfinals. Games against SL and NDL will only be decisive if NRR comes into play, which mostly likely it would.

Games against australia and England most important.

bumrah , siraj , kuldeep , ashwin , jadeja

rahul

rohit gill Kohli pandya kishan

our starting 11 .

our home advantage is gonna be important if pitches are suiting us . More than opposition think pitches .

DK explained the "reasons" on cricbuzz

1. 2 new balls rule

2. Only 4 fielders during 11-40 overs

3. As they don't bowl in matches, not worth it to spend time

4. Too much cricket, one niggle and you're gone from radar..so why risk it

I think he doesn't know about Markram, Maxwell. He kept mum on Asalanka and bypassed that topic.

Bhogle also jumped in, supporting the superstars. :wall:

3- is a self fulfilling prophecy. they don't practice as they don't expect to bowl, they can't bowl because they haven't put in the effort to practice.

4 - as such most of these superstars skip most games in the name of rotation. Isn't the same true for HP, Jadeja, Axar? why should they risk a niggle?

These sound more like after the fact justifications for their inability to go out of their comfort zone.

you guys are getting really obsessed over part timers for some reason, nobody else uses them. Root doesn't bowl much, marnus and smith don't chuck down overs during the middle overs

Markram,Head,Marsh,Livi regularly bowl.

Sundar is the choice post World Cup, not Parag in ODIs for a batting A/R.

Deodhar Trophy

Batting stats

Parag

88 average 136 strike rate

Sundar

20 odd average 65 odd strike rate

Bowling stats

Parag average 19

Sundar average 26

No evidence that Sundar deserves a go ahead of Parag (played for a weaker team as well)

Sundar is technically far more proficient and seems a much better option against high class international level bowling away from home.
